So they're including Live and peripherals in their figures... I got rid of my 360 9 months ago and I can't remember how much Live cost me, but it was quite a bit (£40 rings a bell). Now I have a PS3 I'm spending nothing online. Fortunately I wasn't a mug and didn't buy the HD-DVD add-on either but some people did. There were plenty of add-ons the 360 needed but i didn't buy - all of which were include in the PS3 price. And let's not forget the 360 has been out far longer than the other next gen consoles so you'd expect more had been bought.

My theory is with the 360, the name's been tarnished by hardware problems recently and there aren't a lot more people out there that MS can sell one to. Most people that want a 360 already have one. But the PS3 and Wii have plenty of potential buyers out there - especially the huge number of PS2 owners that are waiting to upgrade.

PlayStation 2 sold millions at under a ton well after the 'people who already wanted one' had spent their money. As far as a tarnished name. Ask anyone on the high street who isn't a hardcore gamer or frequenter of gaming websites about RROD and they won't have a bleedin clue what you're on about. As a owner of a PS3 and 360, I truly can't stand the rants of fan boys. Why can't they accept that both consoles have pros and cons !? Well done to MS for establishing Xbox as a gaming brand. It can only be a good thing to increase competition in the market place.

For the person who mentioned that the 360 name is tarnished about hardware failure. Keep in mind the PS2 had problems as well and it still sold over 40 million worldwide. I'm not saying the same case can happen with the 360 but to out right say it's name is tarnished is stupid. All consoles have their own problem, some greater then others but it don't mean these companies will allow the problem to continue. As you see Microsoft extended their warranty and free shipping for consoles that had hardware problems, as a customer i can't complain. Things happen.

Playstation 2 sold over 120 million consoles worldwide; as a matter of fact both playstaion 2& 3 outsold the xbox 360 in 2007. That is what I find most disturbing and rather pompous with Microsoft's continous claims(insert lost odyssey comment) is that they refuse to acknowledge the dominace other consoles have asserted over them. Microsoft is a great software platform-they will never suceed in the hardware market. They should instead focus on the software aspect of gaming and leave hardware to the more experienced Sony and Nintendo.

Be honest the hardware of the 360 performance its advanced on its own right (better than PS3) and yes better manufacture for handling purposes of gaming, but RROD its an MF that continues to strive. After the 1st 360 with RROD I decided to buy another one by october 08 when the new GPU its release with 65nm which should not give you that rrod. anymore.

If Ms performance was so great, why do we have the RRoD? Personally, I haven't seen any MS game top Uncharted graphically yet. Also, I am tired of hearing about the lazy developers who create crappy ports for the PS3. The developers who create games from the PC or PS3 first have the best ports. At the moment, I feel the PS3 is getting gimped portsbecause they have to keep the playing feild even because of the 360. MS > PS3 please? Crack kills

I just don't get it that so many people still put up with sony's lies and disrespect. sony never cared about the gamer, if they did they never would have forced blu-crap down our throats and justified their expense by charging us gamers. I hate sony and will boycott all of their products. I have not even played FF12 because I am so pissed at them, although I heard from several people that I am not missing much.

RROD is still a large problem for M$.
PS2 is the greatest selling console of all time in every territory.
PS3 has exceeded the number of consoles sold by the Xbox360 for the same initial time frame worldwide.
storage capacity is the downfall of Wii and Xbox360.

Actually, the poster was correct. The PS3 has been outselling the XBox globally for months. If easily outsells the XBox in Europe, Japan, and other regions and sold more units in it's first year than the 360 or for that matter, the PS2. vgchartz dot com has all the details.
