Microsoft bid would be "an operation without sense"

Logitech chairman Guerrino De Luca said any takeover move by Microsoft would be an ‘operation without sense’

Speculation began in January that Microsoft could make a move for Logitech, leading the company’s shares to rise 12 per cent.

Yet speaking to Italian newspaper Corriere Della Sera, De Luca claims that a takeover would only damage the firm’s need to innovate:

"Without competition Logitech would lose the great pressure to innovate,” said De Luca. “Moreover there would be problems from antitrust authorities seeing as the two companies together would have a virtual global monopoly in mice and keyboards."
