Midway boss reveals decision to ‘go direct’ in region has reaped benefits
Midway CEO David Zucker has revealed that the percentage of the company’s revenue derived from Europe has reached almost 50 per cent on some of its biggest titles.
Talking in Midway’s Q4 earning call, Zucker said that the publisher’s decision to ‘go direct’ in the region had seen the figure climb over the last three years.
He said:
“Our strategy of going direct in the three largest regions in the pal territories, the UK, Germany and France, along with strong operational performance on the sales and marketing front has allowed us to grow the percentage of our revenue derived from Europe and pal territories from 18 per cent in 2004 to over 35 per cent in 2007.
"We’re now seeing some of our big titles garnering as much as 40 or 50 per cent of their revenue from European pal sales, more in line with our competitors.”
