Analyst predicts Take Two’s upcoming title will generate $135m in operating profit
Following Take Two’s financial results last night, leading games analyst Michael Pachter has said he is unimpressed with the results, though he does expect GTAIV to be an overwhelming success.
“We are relatively unimpressed with Take Two’s lineup for the next financial year with the glaring exception of GTA IV,” the Wedbush Morgan analyst started.
“We expect the game to sell nine million units and generate $135 million in operating profit, or 103 per cent of the operating profit Take Two would earn at the high end of management guidance.
“Stated simply, the rest of the company’s business is expected to be below breakeven in the most optimistic case, suggesting that its turnaround is far from complete.”

Nine million is a huge number - but I agree that GTA4 could reach it. How does that compare to the likes of Halo 3?

Halo 3 was the biggest selling franchise for a single platform, however GTA 4 selling on the 360 and PS3 will easily over take it.
Total sales easily be around 9million world wide.
Maybe even Jack Thompson will queue up and make a purchase...hehehehehe

This analyst had a sell rating and $12 price target on Take Two just a few weeks ago before EA offered $26. Now, people are suppose to take him seriously??? Methinks he is working in EA's interest.
