Microsoft only really have one big title this year, GOW2, unlike Sony who has several HUGE titles the vast majority of the gaming world know and are excited about. The best racing game in the world is coming out this year (we hope) and a small game only a few people have heard of called Metal Gear Solid is out this summer. Microsoft have lowered their prices because of this, we all know this! Im not a 'fanboy' as I own every console, I just know Microsoft are hiding behind their lowered prices.

Oh and please dont come back with xbox 'will have exclusive GTA4 content' as Sony will have it by the end of the year.

I'll not call you a fan boy, as I too own both. But Microsoft certainly dont have only one big game.
Ninja Gaiden did well on xbox, as did fable, both recieving a more advertised sequal this year. as well as Gears and halo wars (you know it will sell!) and exclusives like lost planet 2. big kids games like banjo. there are some strong titles in there. Although sony should steal it really with MGS 4, GT5 and little big planet all shaping up well. but then after 360's steller year last year, and a quiter year this year (although i dont believe it looking at that list) what has sony got next year?

lee, just because you say that you have all the consoles so that makes you not a fanboy, your words speak differently.

There are plenty of games coming out for all the consoles, and 2008 looks like a good year for games. So what if Sony may have more exclusive games, Last year it was 360 with many of the best games.

At the end of the day, it doesn't matter which console has what released when, only that YOU enjoy it. I want to buy a PS3, but atm most games that I want are 360 only or multiformat. The only games that I have seen that are PS3 exclusive I am not wanting (MGS and GT), but I am sure that at some point soon there will be a PS3 game that I lust after (maybe Heavy Rain, as I loved Fahenheit).

And microsoft have many big titles coming out, Halo Wars, Dead Rising 2, Dead Space, the GTA4 content.

Although TBH, if all you are doing is waiting for the next best game to come out, what are you doing with your console in the meantime? I would much rather play last years games that are awesome (and cheaper than PS3 often £10 more than the same 360 title) than wait for a console to show it's promises.

What would you rather choose, the £10000 prize, or the Mystery Box?

Xbox 360 has a lot of games out this year. And, if you read the gears of war story last week, they've still got some big ones to announce.

Don't get me wrong, PS3 is in the ascendancy. But the 360 still has a larger install base, and the system almost certainly makes more money than the PS3

Remember, Rare is a big development team and they've certainly got a load of 360 games currently under development.

A console that has sold as much as the 360 has, is by no means a dead platform. In fact, it has been a big success.

Yep, I own the big three + DS & PSP. It would be nice to have a game for the PS3 worth buying as at the moment there is near zero reason to own one. My PS3 just gets started up once every couple of weeks. Resistance was OK but thats about it and on line play on all the games I've tried is dire.

They are also so eager to let everyone no how much better it is coz it going to have this and going to be able to do that. Well all I have to say the 360 is doing all that **** and has been for ages. New MGS biggest thing Sony has going for it; can’t wait for MGS4 Substance.

Who cares about the price guys, would you buy a crappy chinese made car if you know you can have a german and english built car. Same situation here, MS blew it with their RRoD. Why would you chunk down that kind of money when you know it won't work for that long and who cares about warranty, what happened after the 3 years eh? Think about it people.......wake up to brand royalty and think before you buy anthing....period..

Microsoft has paid for "exclusive episodic content", not for The Nico Hawaiian Shirt Collection or Sunday Afternoon Cruise Weapons Cache or whatever it will be called, kind of DLC.

These are merely 'scenery changers', whereas the exclusive X360 content (one for autumn 2008), the other probably for spring 2009, will actually EXTEND the game story/locations.

We just don't know how and the cost yet.

I would agree that KZ2, LBP, MGS4 and GT5 (not Prologue) are the handful 'big hitters' for PS3 in 2008.

However, you cannot claim any of them as being killer apps yet, because that is usually realised well after the game has been released.

Halo 3 was 'hotly anticipated' but I wouldn't say it was exactly a killer app, whereas I think GoW has proved to be more attractive.

I wouldn't hold my breath for games like Getaway etc. Remember how late the first one was?

This always end up being a fan war between the two. I currently own a Wii and 360 and so far, I am very happy. There is no real reason for me to grab a PS3 now, I don't need a B-Ray player just yet... When Shadow Of The Colossus arrives, that will be the day I'll buy myself a PS3... for MGS5, I can borrow one!

Guy's who cares about which console is better, which has what game, as long as there is competition, we all win! be it a Wii owner, a PS3 Owner or a 360 Owner.

Personally I own a 360, Don't like the idea of jumping around like a nutter playing on a Wii, hate the PS controllrs, just too poorly designed for my hands. but so what, I don't care, I like my 360, and when games cost less, due to the makers competing with themselves. I win.

Now quit the bitching and enjoy the lower costs.

Prices will go down, games will cost less. we all win.

Personally, I don't see anything wrong with a little bit of friendly rivalry; it's what's kept this industry alive and with so many people employed in it.

Can you imagine a games industry with just one 'universal' console? There's only be a handful of developers, like EA, Microsoft, Epic, Infogrames, Sony, Sega, Nintendo and err that's it!

While I don't agree with blind loyalty, I think everything else, including all the debates is healthy and keeps such Web sites as this one alive.

I personally think this Microsoft price drop is an act of desperation but I'm eagerly awaiting the response from Sony; it's nice to see the hardware vendors slug it out in the ring for supremacy and I for one, welcome all these price drops and bundles, because ultimately, it's the consumer that benefits.

I have to write this as Lee Moorhouse you really are a Sony Fanboy & I dont believe for 1 second you own all the machines, I do & I just would not bang on about the PS3 in the way you do. I would also add how the hell are Sony going to get the Exclusive content the 360s going to get when Microsoft are paying millions for the content to be exclusive.
The PS3 no doubt will get something exclusive but I dont expect that to appear on a 360. I am in a minority who will own the game on both consoles so I am not bothered. I am a gamer not a fanboy.
