September 19th release date for LucasArts’ post Episode III physics-heavy Sith romp

George Lucas’s gaming arm LucasArts has confirmed that its massively hyped and much anticipated Star Wars: The Force Unleashed will be released on Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, DS, PSP and PS2 on September 19th in Europe, CVG reports.

It will hit stores a few days earlier in North America on September 16th.

Set between the events of Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and original cinematic outing Episode IV: A New Hope, The Force Unleashed sees gamers play Darth Vader’s secret apprentice on a quest to rid the galaxy of the last remaining Jedi.

It promises to deliver a revolutionary physics engine that will see all the player’s powerful Sith abilities radically impact on the entire game world. It’s sales potential is, obviously, really quite massive.

"Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is one of the most ambitious projects LucasArts has ever launched," LucasArts’ Peter Hirschmann stated.

"The combination of a great new Star Wars story with revolutionary new technology and game play means more fun than you've ever had in the Star Wars universe. We can't wait until gamers get their hands on it this September."

The release date is almost a year late after the original release...this game has been awaited far too long.

someone has clearly lost the plot here, it is a big venture for lucasarts and one that has been hyped so much they couldn't allow for it to be rushed out in a nonpolished form.
better the wait i say, star wars fans and gamers alike would prefer it that way!
