Japanese market to peak this year, says Enterbrain

Demand for Wii and PS3 will slow down over next two years, says market authority

Japanese analyst and publisher of Famitsu Enterbrain has predicted that this year will see the domestic market peak in the current console generation.

Japan Today reports that the Enterbrain forecasts combined hardware and software sales will peak at 710.4 billion yen this year, and to fall to 671.1 billion yen in 2010.

It expects demand for Wii and PS3 to fall over the next two years, but that the online market will actually see an increase.

Enterbrain predicts that the market for online games is expected to continue growing and to reach 320.5 billion yen in 2010 – bringing the total market for game consoles and online games to 991.6 billion yen.
