Midway’s European managing director Martin Spiess has been promoted to the position of international executive VP for Midway Games Ltd.

And Spiess isn’t the only Midway employee to be granted a new role – Miguel Iribarren has become senior VP of publishing for parent Midway Games Inc.

Former VP of publishing Iribarren will now have Midway’s worldwide sales, marketing, publishing and business development teams report to him.

“Both Miguel and Martin are proven executives and will be key to putting Midway back on the path to profitability,” said interim CEO and president of Midway Matt Booty.

“With these two executives, as well as the rest of our experienced management team, I am confident that we can improve execution and deliver on Midway’s promise to regain its industry leadership and become a top tier, profitable company in the coming years.”

Spiess has worked in the interactive entertainment industry for 20 years, and previously held senior positions with Atari, Crave Entertainment and Virgin.

He joined Midway as MD of Europe in 2005. Under his leadership, the publisher’s European business has almost doubled in value. During this time, Spiesshas also established an additional Midway office in Paris, France, to work with UK and German infrastructure in further developing pan-European channels.

Iribarren joined Midway in 2002. Prior to joining the company, Iribarren was a VP of research for respected analyst Wedbush Morgan Securities.
