New Stargate MMO on the way; focus on social networks for new firm FireSky
The new online specialist believes that current attempts to bring gamers together online have failed – and it is looking to rectify that with a range of new titles employing a strong social networking theme.
Popular sci-fi franchise StarGate will be the first title to emerge from the new firm as it aims to invigorate online gaming.
FireSky will publish the title as part of its banner of Social Networks at Play (SNAP), online gaming that combines social interaction, economies and game play. Tim Jenson, FireSky CEO explained, “As the industry moves online, more and more people will be turning to games as a way to spend time with friends.
“With a few notable exceptions, game developers and publishers haven’t done a good job of marrying quality games with social experiences. Project: Ascension and SNAP games will change that dynamic forever.”
Rod Nakamoto, FireSky senior VP of product development, elaborated: “We’re working on a new set of ideals that will push online gaming past barriers and into an era of portability.”
