Mad Catz has named Thomas R Brown, 57, as its new non-executive chairman of the Board.

Brown replaces former chairman Geofrey Myers, who sadly passed away last month.

He has served as an independent, non-executive member of the company’s Board since 2006. Mad Catz’ Board of directors is comprised of five members, four of whom are considered independent under the corporate governance standards of the American Stock Exchange.

Darren Richardson, president and CEO of Mad Catz, stated, “Our former Chairman, Geof Myers, will always be missed, both for his enormous contributions to Mad Catz and as a trusted advisor and friend to us all. But we are delighted to have Tom as our new Chairman.

“Since joining Mad Catz’ Board in 2006, Tom’s extensive experience in the consumer electronics industry, financial reporting, supply chain management, manufacturing and outsourcing has proven to be invaluable to the Company. We look forward to Tom’s ongoing contributions in his new role as we continue our efforts to grow the company and increase shareholder value.”

Brown has more than 30 years of senior level operational and financial experience. Currently President and Chief Executive Officer of American Technology Corporation, he also spent over 16 years with Sony Electronics, where held various senior positions included executive VP and deputy president.

Brown also previously held the post of chief financial officer at Food Concepts, Inc. and was a senior manager at Price Waterhouse (now known as PriceWaterhouseCoopers).
