260 GAME stores to sell GTA IV at midnight

All UK outlets will open doors by 7.00am to deal with demand for Rockstar release
GAME is to open 260 stores across the UK and Ireland at midnight tonight for the launch of GTA IV.
In addition, these stores will re-open their doors at 7.00am – and will be joined by every one of GAME’s 414 UK stores.
GAME is advising customers that only those who have pre-ordered a game can be guaranteed to receive their copy on release day.
Tricia Brennan, GAME UK and Eire managing director said: “Everyone at GAME is working flat out to make sure customers can pick up their copy of GTA IV as fast as possible.
“The release of a new GTA title is always a massive event for our customers, and we expect this to be one of the biggest selling titles of the year.
GTA IV is even more exciting as, for the first time ever, a GTA title will be available on two consoles as soon as it launches.
“We know that even greater numbers of people will want a copy very quickly, and due to incredible demand the vast majority have already been pre-ordered by our customers. We are working closely with Rockstar to make sure that subsequent deliveries arrive quickly in our stores.”

Rumour has it that only the Xbox 360 versions are being sold at midnight. The PS3 copies aren't going on sale until 9am after a deal between Microsoft and GAME. Interesting rumour and if true I reckon Sony will have missed a trick.

Well that's certainly a rumour, it would be very dumb for a national retailer to only sell the one format! Image the riot by all the underage kids with their fake ID's that couldn't get their PS3 copy at midnight, and all the irate parents dragged out of bed to get the copy for the nagging kids without fake ID's....now that's a lot of wrath I know wouldn't like to face late at night! :)
Still not sure what all the fuss it about really, yes GTA was a good game and an interesting 'sandbox' game when it first hit shelves and I played Vice City a fair bit (if only for the wonderfully cheesy soundtrack), but seriously Rockstar could really do with some new IP rather than the usual stuff that always gets the media in a pickle! :)
