Boss Lisa Morgan shoots down any prospect of cost-cutting battle with supermarkets this year
Game Group CEO Lisa Morgan has ruled out any possibility of a ‘price war’ with supermarkets and online retailers this year.
Speaking to financial news site Cantos, Morgan said that GAME was comfortable with the competitive marketplace it operated in – and that potentially damaging cost-cutting "would not be in the interests of anyone”.
When asked, “Are you expecting a price war?”, Morgan replied:
“Well, no – as I said earlier, we’re already trading in what is a competitive marketplace. And we don’t feel a price war is in the interests of anyone.”
Morgan was speaking after reporting GAME’s hugely successful full-year financial results this morning, which revealed a year-on-year pre-tax profits jump of 156 per cent.

Price war
If you take a walk into your local supermarket I think you'll find their already is a price war.
Re: Price war
The supermarkets are quickly becoming the place where I pick up my games. In most cases I save between 5-10 pounds on what game expect me to pay.
"we don’t feel a price war is in the interests of anyone." - Expect the customer maybe? ah the joys of owning a monopoly .
Re: Price war
don't you mean YOU CANT COMPETE in a price war! lol the supermarkets will always be the best game to buy a game cheaper
Re: Price war
Will this company never cease with its bull****? GAME own Gamestation do they not? So why have they allowed GS to undercut everyone on GTAIV with a £39.99 price tag on day one?
The audacity of this comapny will never cease to amaze me.
Re: Price war
I been buying games at ASDA for over year now. In a ASDA store I can buy games cheaper then then at play.com.
I just love going in to GAME and tell them how much it be sold for lot less in ASDA. I have never had good customer support in GAME.
All I have to say to game is
GAME over, man.
