Retailer’s CEO Lisa Morgan explains the criteria a potential target must fulfil to be considered

If you’re a specialist retailer with between 20 and 25 stores, you might just be on GAME Group CEO Lisa Morgan’s shopping list this year.

That’s according to an interview with the firm’s boss on financial news site Cantos, in which she was asked: “Let’s look at your strategy on acquisitions. Given cyclical market pricing threats, is now really the right time?”

Morgan replied: “It’s not really a matter of timing, it’s a more a matter of opportunity.

Our strategy hasn’t changed.

“We look for a specialist opportunity where we have good local management, ideally, 20 to 25 stores, a marketplace that we see potential in, and then we can work with the teams and develop the opportunity.”

Morgan was speaking after GAME’s stunning full year fiscal results this morning, which revealed a like-for-like sales jump of over 40 per cent.

“Isn't this a bit too much coverage?!”
Posted by: Zed Zee - Apr 29, 1:07pm

And in other news, a GAME employee flushed the toilet at their head office today...

COME ON, MCV! What's with all this HUGE amount of coverage for GAME?

You could've consolidated some of the news stories into ONE or TWO articles at the MOST.

Stop giving these pre-owned market king vultures free advertising on your Web pages and focus on how games like GTA-IV are doing, right now, on the high street by talking to people who are buying it and following them home and seeing how they're enjoying it.

Or you can ask the likes of GAME some useful questions, like: How many X360 vs PS3 copies are being sold? What's the ratio?

Or how about getting involved in this new news that claims the PS3 version is running at a lower res than X360?

See? There's so much more for you to cover than toilet flushing antics at GAME's head office!!!

Game rule haters. You can't hope to match our expertise and raw passion for our industry. We have the first lady of games at our helm and some of the best staff in the industry. If you want to knock us then I suggest you step up to the plate and start putting your money where your mouth is. In the mean time shut up, watch us fly as we sit back and watch the money pile up hehehehehe. It's like watching Shell on a good day.

I Hate Game, they buy up the competition (god knows how the gamestation buyout got passed the monopolies and merger thingy) then make them charge high prices like Game does, where i live we had 2 Game stores and 1 Gamestation, that was it, with the latter undercutting the former on everything by quite a bit....... now Gamestations prices have rocketed!!! second hand stuff on newish games are about £5 less than new, so whats the point? you can probly go to tesco and get it new for the same or less..... on saturday i bought the missus a Wii and wii fit, so i was shopping round, Gamestation had a offer on Wii fit for £30, with the small print trade in Guitar hero 3 and guitar (a £60 game) what a bargain!!! up there with Games GTA4 for £20 just trade in 2 games that was release within the last month - I hate you! you skanky goits!! long live ebay

“Game aquisitions?”

Other than Gamestation who have Game ever acquired?

No one.

How is this a story, the Game P.R machine continues.

Game only bought Gamestation to stop Gamestop from moving into the UK.

When did Game ever show a interest in buying, Chips, Eplay, Virtual Games, Pink Planet, Grainger Games?

As far as I know, Never.
