M&S embraces Nintendo

General retailer adds Wii and DS to its product range as it looks to grow market share

Though it might be more famed for pants and posh food, retail chain Marks & Spencer is boosting its presence in the games space by adding Nintendo hardware and software to its range.

The High Street stalwart has already pushed into stocking technology products on its website and in a limited number of stores, offering PS3 and Xbox 360 games and consoles alongside high definition TVs.

But now the runaway success of Nintendo products has forced Marks & Spencer to re-assess its strategy.

“We currently sell a range of video games and consoles as part of our existing technology offer in 19 stores and on the web. We’ve recently enhanced this offer by including Nintendo,” said a spokesperson.

“Following our successful move into technology, the gaming market was an obvious addition to our range, and one that we see great potential in.”
