CEO Ian Higgins leaves publisher after 21 years of service
Empire Interactive CEO Ian Higgins has today announced that he will be leaving the company after 21 years.
Higgins has recently overseen a period of impressive growth at Empire, during which time the firm has enjoyed success with the likes of its FlatOut series and Jackass game adaptation.
In late 2006, alongside Empire’s co-founder and managing director Simon Jeffrey, he sold the business to Silverstar Holdings, and will now step aside as Empire builds its newly-funded business.
“It’s been a great journey working with a bunch of fantastic people at Empire but after almost 21 years, its time to take a break.
It’s not a sudden decision but something that has been planned since the acquisition.” said Higgins.
“The company has some great titles planned and I look forward to seeing the successful launch of these in the months to come.
“The first game we developed cost £6,000 and took two people three months from start to finish, so its changed a bit. There’s a lot to look back on but hey, nostalgia is not what it used to be,” he added.

The industry has changed and some of us are getting older by the day. Ian and Simon are two of the very best and men of their ilk, men who traded and took proper risks will be sorely missed. Hats off to you Ian, go well.
