Fact is in Europe PS3 GTA 4 is outselling XB 360 GTA 4 2 to 1 . Euro gamers must know something!

Are you sure that is true about it outselling the Xbox version in Europe? It's all PR nonsense anyway.

Euro gamer's stick to what they know, And that's Sony. They tend to be very loyal towards them for some reason or maybe ignorant towards other companys? I don't know, you decide. Anyhow that comment above doesn't surprise me.

UK sales figures from launch day state 55% XBox 360, 45% PS3. Virtually neck and neck, will be interesting to find out the sales after next week.

This has just happened, god's honest truth.
My work mate (who has had a 360 for a couple of years now) went into town to buy GTA4, absolutely none about but plenty of PS3 copies, he was that eager to play it he purchased a PS3 GTA4 bundle. He just came and told us and we ribbed him. I said, will it work ? there have been a lot of problems with PS3 versions. Anyway he feels sick now (physically he said). I said that women get that feeling when they just purchased loads of shoes they don't need. Anyway, my point is there seems to be plenty of copies left for PS3 and none on Xbox360 and I heard 360 sold 80,000 more copies on day one.

Don't know anyone buying the PS3 version but at the store the 360 version sold out and there were 2 people returning the PS3 copy saying that "It didn't work!" The freezing issue seems to be more pronounced on the PS3 then is know currently. I bet we'll hear a lot more about the PS3 version being flawed in days to come. I wonder how much longer the PS3 can get away with delaying games, charging more more hardware, shoddy on-line service and delivering games that do not outperform the 360 as promised?? WTF?? And no extra content?? No personal soundtrack?? I mean after 30+ hours I think I might get tired of the game soundrack! Dissapointment!!!!

Dont really want to fuel this fire but my flat mate works for HMV in central London and he said that at his store, they sold about 200 units on 360 day one and about 100 on PS3.

Personally, I couldnt care less about which version has sold more.

Whether or not these sales are echoed throughout UK retail is another matter entirely.

The 360 version sold at a 55% to 45% split in the UK but sold out in the process while the PS3 version was still available, thus the scale by which the 360 could have outsold the PS3 was capped by stock levels FACT!!!

I believe that with unlimited stock the 360's larger user base would probablly have outsold the PS3 by about 2:1, i'm not being biased it's just the UK and US are both pro 360, other parts of the EU and Japan are pro PS3 FACT.

Most of you are wrong. The PS3 is outselling XBox versions of GTA4, fact. Also the rumours regarding the game freezing are actually related to the XBox because the age of the machine is not as upto date as the Playstation so struggles in some places. If you want the best and most reliable experience go with the PS3 version. It is based on the Blu-Ray format, much more reliable and gives a better picture. I have both an XBox 360 and a PS3 I spent months trying to decide which to buy it on and in the end what I said above pushed me to buy it on PS3, also, free online access what can I say!! The extras that XBox will be offering at the end of the year will eventually be available on PS3 plus the extras really aren’t that great. I am not a loyal PS3 fan but a fan of games in general so I guarantee that my views are not stuck to loyalties but cold hard fact.!!!

I've got both consoles but went for 360 because of availability. I picked up my GTA IV from GAME in Angel and they had 30 copies left for 360, PS3 sold out. However, when I questioned further the store manager told me they had received THREE TIMES as many 360 copies to PS3, and had only just sold out of PS3 20 minutes prior to my arrival.

Not sure if this is indicative of all the GAME stores across the country but interesting that they would have so many more 360 copies on order.

I work for Game and my branch received a lot more stock of the 360 version (based on preorders). We subsequently sold considerably more copies on the 360. We did see a couple of PS3 versions being returned due to the freezing issue. I can't say if this was repeated throughout retail.

makes no sense to compare in that way as in NA, X360 has far bigger installed base. It would make more sense and probably more revealing to see how many new units of X360 and PS3 were bought this week. UK is prettly much similar to NA in terms of installed base. But in continent, it's a completely different picture. I bet on EU level, PS3 version outsold X360 version. Let's see next week.

Admittedly we had more scaleouts of the 360 version on launch day. We got around 260 for 360 and 190 for PS3. Both formats sold out on day one. We did however sell PS3 hardware bundled with GTA more than 360 hardware on the day (and WTD). This software issue seems to be causing a problem on both machines although we haven't had ant returns as of yet (i own a 60gb PS3 and have had no problems).

There seems to be a lot of the word 'fact' thrown about on here and as of yet nobody has any official link what-so-ever on any sales figures. Obviously the 360 will shift more because of the user base but from what I've seen (in our store at least) the PS3 is shifting more hardware this week.

I was at launch night at Gamestation and there seemed to be slightly more xbox 360 sales but not enormous difference so who knows??

I currently own an Xbox 360, purchased my copy on the tuesday, "saw" more copies for the PS3 lying around but so what. Would love the sales to be 50-50 down the line. Why? Because it increases competition! I want both companies to be neck-and-neck in hardware and software sales. I want them to be forced to cut each others throats so that they drive the cost of each others hardware down and try and get more of our pound notes. Maybe then i can justify it to myself to buy a PS3 (well, that and some exclusives and a real showing of this "monumental power" that is apparently beating underneath that black case, but apparently developers are currently just "too stupid" to tap into right now . . . . ). Do you fanboys really want a return to the time when the Xbox 1 more or less had a still-birth, and Sony could do pretty much whatever they wanted for the next five years? . . . . . I dunno, maybe i burnt this out of me during my mid-teenage Amiga/Atari - SNES/Megadrive days (slowly rocks on chair, rheumy eyes filling with tears, pipe in hand).

Local tesco only had gta on 360 as all ps3 copies were sold out, went to buy it at gamestation and two ladies in front of me were screaming at the assistant because their boys 360s had "3 red lights" and they were told they would have to send them back to microsoft.

Not to mention that x360 doesnt sell anywhere in europe except to some extent in UK( even in UK PS3 beats x360 in weekly sales)

I sold my x360 and x360 version of GTA4 after i got several pop ins in GTA4 x360 version. My x360 already RROD ed twice so i exchanged all my x360 games + x360 for a PS3 GTA4 bundle.

My friends also traded their x360s for PS3 GTA bundle on the 29th

I think PS3 version will end up selling more in europe. europe is just SONY land. In NA too it will be neck and neck since many PS2 owners would be purchasing PS3 .

I did the same as the person above. I traded in my x360 for GTA4 PS3 bundle. GTA4 x360 version has a lot of POP IN issues so had to hand it in along with my x360

After reading this post it looks like your all missing the bigger picture. You guys are still thinking that console wars are still about the same as xbox and ps2 era.

Wake up! things have changed. progressed. gaming is now more involved. THE biggest thing ever happened. ONLINE GAMING.

Im looking to buy GTA4. Im not a console owner, im a PC gamer, Iv been playing online for over 8yrs now. Very rarely play Solo games because the AI is dumb compared to human Inteligence.

Now consider how many PC gamers are considering which console to buy, who until now never had any reason to reduce our game play and graphics to the level the consoles have churned out until GTA 4 that is.

The first thing to note is there doesnt seem to be any graphical differences mentioned in the media so im assuming there is non.

Secondly the downloadable custom missions for Xbox are irrelevent as after 10hrs or so max, most PC gamers will be playing only online

Third but MOST IMPORTANT is which console will provide us with the best online gaming experience. This is the single biggest factor in deciding which console is the better. On this im leaning towards the Xbox 360 as im being told repeatedly the 360's online interface and general usability is better with MS using there experience in PC technology to good use.

Oh and those of you who think you wont be playing mostly online are either the ones who cant play the game properly or just dont understand the future of mass gaming.

I think there is a big market for storyline driven games. Not everyone wants to play online all the time - playing pc games primarily doesn't really put you in the position to discern what everyone wants from a game.

I've had the game since launch and as a singleplayer experience it's fantastic.
