Leipzig set for biggest ever year

The co-ordinators of Games Convention 2008 have revealed attendance is set to beat the levels set in 2007.

The event, which the organisers have called Europe’s benchmark fair for the games industry” is set to take place in Leipzig on August 21st to 24th this summer. A game music concert will open the games fair, and the E-Sports finals will take place over the three days.

GC 2008 includes a press trade visitor day on August 20th, ahead of the public opening.

Wolfgang Marzin, Leipziger Messe’s CEO, remarked: Registration figures for the GC 2008 are already considerably higher than last year. This and the large number of foreign exhibitors underline the importance attributed to Leipzig’s GC."

The games fair will house more than 500 exhibitors, in an area covering 115,500 square metres and the organisers promise more than 250 world, European and German titles will be exhibited at the event this year.
