I wanted to say something about the staff at Dixons and their consistently terrible customer service. However, the corporate side of things seems so distant from acknowledging why exactly it's shops suck, there is no point.

Get better staff for a start! Staff that care and understand what they are selling! They are a joke and the price is a joke so really one BIG joke.

Wake up to the fact ppl dont buy full price and **** untrained staff anymore.

Sell alot at a cheap price with **** staff that works. Maybe not so cheap but good staff and good back up works too.

Sorry your fired!

wow, I cannot believe the company that I work for can be so bad. I work in a store that has won best team overall and consistantly delivers outstanding results in customer surveys. One thing I have learnt though is the high expectations of the customer. I am sick to death of people speaking to me as though i'm a second class citizen. Also before I worked here I would never have dreamt about asking for discount in these stores. I guess people would rather listen to a convict like dominic littlewood than the honest (commission free) employees that i represent and work with. When shopping in sainsburys would you expect 20% off of your shopping? we as staff only get 10% and we have to earn that through our work.
I use to love working in retail but the publics attitude has killed my excitement.
I do agree that the staff of many stores need training but this can only be achieved through time in the company. I came in as a specialist in 2 fields and it works really well for me.

Fair play- it's not nice to see such negative press about your workplace.

However, my experience of both Currys & Dixons/Currys Digital etc. is consistenly awful customer service on the (albeit few) visits I have made to their stores over the last 20 years, generally involving poorly trained staff unable to answer my questions about the product & trying to hard sell me an extended warranty!

Also, surely one of the reasons that the .digital stores are not working is their unispiring understocked games sections?

It doesn't suprise me all the management care about is figures selling service agreements and forcing credit and over expensive add ons to its customers. I am glad I got out of the place 2 years back. They keep getting rid of their more experienced staff who knew about the products that they sold. Froze the pay of most ofthe fully trained staff for a couple of years by changing pay structure regurally over the years. When I started with the company pay for a good saleman with commision was about £18k-£20k when I left it was an average of £10k-£12k.

Dixons/Curry's/PC World has ALWAYS provided shocking service to me. They didn't have a clue and the aftersales service was embarassing, that's why I'll never spend another penny in there, they need a good clearout of management.

tbh the sooner currys, comet, pc world and dixons dissappear the better! all 4 have awful, terrible service, bad staff, rubbish customer service, bad store layouts and atmospheres, appallingly high rip off prices, always trying to sell you things you don't want, always trying to force you to get extended warranty and basically conning you and trying to get as much money out of you as possible at every opportunity. AND the staff get commission...what a joke! the customers want discounts because YOU get commission to brainwash us...which in my eyes seems fair! they're all dinosaurs anyway...they'll all be shut in a few years along with Woolworths, Marks and spencers etc..all my 30 years on earth, these stores have conned us and we have all wanted better service and price, and now finally other shops are giving us it-so they deserve to die! RIP currys!:D

A great example of Curry's customer service here for you.
I took my PC there (which had stopped working for reasons unknown to me) and the PC specialist at the repair counter said, well, we can check it out for you and let you know the score but it will cost you £62.
I thought, okay, thats fair enough, so, I paid the £62 and returned to the store 3 weeks later as instructed.

After waiting at the repair counter for more then 25 minutes to be served, the sales assistant went into the back area and brought my PC out covered in blue shrink wrap, placed it on the counter and this is what he said, word for word:

"We dont know whats wrong with it but we know that PC world can fix it"

I asked if I could have my money back with my argument being that for all I knew, they could have charged me £62 to cover it in shrink wrap and sit it on a shelf without any evidence of it being looked at.

Obviously, I got nothing.

what a joke.

The staff may not get commission but they do get a bonus if the store hits certain targets at the end of the month which includes service agreements (Extended Warranty) and credit (easiplan).

This seems about right to me, I used to think Currys was quite a solid retailer but after a recent experience they were anything but. Rude managers who always seem to quote "I've been here 20 years and know best"... well hopefully by the looks of this article, he'll not be there much longer. i'll be the first one mocking him with a smile on my face as I walk past the job centre on the way to work

I'm probably pretty much out of date with a lot of these comments but there are 1 or 2 that are just rubbish - I've been working for DSG for a while now and I do know that for every useless employee there are 10 pratt like customers in front of him, with regret we live in times where customers think they can talk to staff just how they wish, and in return they will get shoddy service and frankly they deserve it - as for matey with his/her computer problem and paid £62 to be told go to PC World as they couldn't find the fault is just rubbish, the truth of the matter is that he/she would have been told to go there with out being charged again no pratt would pay twice ! accept unless of course she/he is standing in front of our well known useless member of staff

I quite frankly think it is disgusting that people actually want DSG stores to go bust, how shallow can people think, makes me feel sick. I like to think i give good customer service and my colleagues also, but i hate it when you get some snotty and rude customer who couldn't give two figs about the person they are talking to. The public seems to think that we don't have feelings, yet we are human and make mistakes. Even before I worked for DSGI i recieved very good service in the stores, and i have to say Comet is a lot worse.
It makes me laugh that in the climate we are in at the moment, people actually want companies to go down the pan, yet will moan when the sales conversion goes down in the stores they work in. Funny that isnt it...

currys.digital poor customer seervice

I bought a laptop from these con men recently. After 3 weeks it developed a hardware fault. I took it back to the store. They didn't want to know as they said it was after 28 days of the original sale. (It was 30 days since I bought it). I'd been on holiday and hadn't been able to take it back earlier. There was no offer of another replacement or refund. The Currys manager said I'd have to contact Samsung as they don't repair Samsung stuff. I hope they fail miserably very soon.
I will be buying a new HD tv and Bluray soon and believe me Currys.Digital will not see a penny. In fact I will never buy again from these scammers.
