Videogamer.com debuts online games show

Comedy-lead outing boasts reviews, previews and ‘British’ humour

Growing consumer games portal Videogamer.com, formerly known as Pro-G, has launched a brand new online games show – which the site says is aimed to appeal specifically to the British sense of humour.

The first episode of The Videogamer.com Show features reviews of current chart-topper Grand Theft Auto IV, Iron man, Mario Kart Wii and UEFA Euro 2008, along with previews of Metal Gear Online and Ubisoft’s upcoming release Haze.

The show is written, presented and directed by the Videogamer.com team, and fronted by the recently joined pair of Nick Peres and Simon Hunter.

“The difficulty of coming up with a unique concept for a video games show that ticks all the right boxes cannot be underestimated, especially when taking into account the comparatively small size of our video team,” Nick Peres stated.

“As such, it’s fantastic that we’ve been able to produce a show that’s unconventional and entertaining whilst being genuinely informative to gamers. The potential for the show is spectacular and I’m really looking forward to producing the rest of the series.”

The show is currently available to stream from http://www.videogamer.com/videos/player.html?vid=2006. An iTunes friendly HD download is expected to arrive before the end of the month.

Not bad

It's OK, and not a bad first attempt.

My main gripe is that it's not particularly relevant: for example, leading with a massive (and positive) Haze preview is particularly ill-advised considering the deluge of poor review scores that have just flooded the internet (not to mention VideoGamer's own 6/10 review).

Mario Kart Wii review...

Next time, plan a bit better and try and get reviews of games that have only just come out. So the reviews bit should be the last bit of the show that is put together.

As for previews, stick to previewing games that won't be out by the time your show airs. Seems obvious.

But apart from that, good first attempt. The humour was good, didn't seem forced and didn't make me cringe like so many other similar attempts have done.

6/10

a very humourous game show with many laugh out loud moments aswell as imformative game previews and reviews. the game specific sketches are brilliant, especially the rock band sketch. the show seems to be developing constantly and is finding a winning formula to appeal to gamers.

i hope the team continue with the series and keep up the comical sketches. i recommend this show

Its a shame this seems to have stopped? Probably the best attempt of a web based gaming show in a long time.
