New games on Nintendo download service coming every Monday
Nintendo's US senior director of product development Tom Prata has revealed there are “about 100” games in development for the firm’s WiiWare service.
According to Prata, the games are at “various stages of completion”.
He ruled out the introduction of a ‘try-before-you-buy’ trial demo system for each game.
Speaking to IGN as part of a wider interview, he said: “Currently, there are about 100 games in development for WiiWare at various stages of completion."
He added: “We do not intend to have a 'try-before-you-buy' model that requires developers to create demos. There are a variety of places to learn more about WiiWare games such as the Nintendo Channel where consumers can find game information for WiiWare together with retail Wii products, Virtual Console and DS games.”

Prata also confirmed that the platform holder will release new titles each Monday on the service.
“Our plan is to make new WiiWare games available on Mondays, as we do with Virtual Console titles,” he commented. “We have not set a limit to the number of games that will launch on any given Monday. Rather, we are working with developers and their production schedules to bring the products to consumers in a timely manner.

Great.
Now they will take 5 secs and find a good solution to stock these games on Wii ? :-/
Nintendo needs a slap
Before I say anything, I should point out, I love my Wii - and I love the WiiWare games (well the few I have played).
But Nintendo really needs a good slapping!
The whole 'try before you buy' system is what makes places like XBLA so much better than the Wii Shop Channel.
Most people would be happy to download a free demo. That would certainly lead to more sales of games. But if Nintendo hold out on such a plan, then people will be more reluctant to download the games.
Also as Sam says - Nintendo NEED to focus on getting a harddrive or something out there for all these extra downloads!
Right now I have quite a few VC games but only ONE WiiWare game (LostWinds) and I really don't want to have to delete any of the downloads off my system to make room for another - becaue I play on them all quite a bit.
I would also say they should try and put some effort into making the Shop Channel more stable.
The amount of times the thing has timed out, or I have received an error message is ridiculous. And its horribly slow. Can take up to 5 mins just to load a fricking page at times, when XBLA takes less than a second.
Sorry, Im happy to see new WiiWare titles. But I really think Nintendo need to sort the actual service out properly - especially with XBLA and PSN in direct competition with them.
Re: Nintendo needs a slap
i can safely say that without the try-before-you-buy demo system for xbla games i would never have tried even half of them.
Dont get me wrong, i would have bought geometry wars regardless but for smaller less well known games it would be harder to get me to part with my cash.
As for a hard drive, this is a must have xmas item. Nintendo are really going to shoot themselves in the foot here if they don't make one because its not an accessory, its a necessity for any wiiware enthusiasts. Nintendo have a great idea and seem like they have the content to back it up but without this last bit it could fall flat on its face.
Even if they had some sort of online storage for the games were you could stream them would be handy but i doubt that sort of technology is feasable for consumers just yet.
Re: Nintendo needs a slap
Nintendo don't need to *make* a HDD for the Wii, they just need to support the industry standard USB drives already out there. Which they could roll-out as a firmware upgrade.
Re: Nintendo needs a slap
@4: agreed ... but it'll never happen. They would make so much more money if they brand their own. But then they'd have to make sure they made enough of them which would be a problem :P
