IGA becomes company’s first partner under new scheme
Sony has introduced of dynamic in-game advertising on PS3.
Marketers interested in placing advertisements in games for PS3 or publishers with available in-game space for advertisements will now be able to engage through advertisement distribution partners.
IGA Worldwide has been selected as PS3’s first partner.
“The PS3 platform is primed to leverage the high growth potential of the in-game advertising market,” said Phil Rosenberg, Senior Vice President, SCEA. “Ads that are organic to the environment not only benefit developers and advertisers, but also create a richer experience for gamers.”
“PlayStation 3 is undoubtedly the prime opportunity for the in-game advertising industry,” said Justin Townsend, CEO, IGA Worldwide.

“Through this partnership with Sony Computer Entertainment, IGA can provide advertisers with a large and valuable global user base of 16-35 year old consumers with disposable income. With our standardized awareness-building advertising formats being delivered directly into people’s living rooms while they play, there are great opportunities for advertisers looking to engage through an entertainment medium outside of the traditional TV spot.”

If used right and in the right context they can be both useful for companies and add to the experience for gamers (eg: nike ads in football games or Honda ads within a car game)
My problem with this is that it didn't say that this was going to lower the price of the games themselves. If game A without ads is £40 surely game B with ads should be cheaper for the consumer . . . or is that just wishfull thinking.
Re: :(
Wishfull thinking, they already advertise in games & we dont see any shift in pricing, they are in it for the money.
The amount of advertising in a game such as Fifa is imense the teams themselves the kits the sponsors the billboards plus the extras like Nike adidas puma etc football boots balls extra kits, alot of `advertising but needed for this game to be realistic. The game should be cheaper with the amount of advertising in game but its not. I bet they have a reason why we dont get discounts maybe its just because they are EA. I personally like it when they come up with the p takes of real adverts far better, like the adds in GTA IV quality.
Re: Re: :(
Theres tons on burnout paradise aswell, billboards and all over vans.
I just hope they dont impliment it in a stupid way.

OH NOES. MCV WEBSITE PLAGUED BY ADVERTS SHOCKER!!!
@5
For a minute i thought it was a clever retort by someone as an example of how ads can be intrusive ... not as funny when it turned out just to be spam, and not very good spam either (watches? wtf)
Re: @5
i know, but i was being ironic in that mcv has alot of adverts at the right hand side of it's site, and the spam post by number 4, thus comment on both situations in one comment, and the style of a news headline, which is related to the above article.
@7
My comment was about the spam too, wasn't aimed at yours (sorry, its the way i wrote it). The "OH NOES" made me laugh though.
