Eight Days also scrapped as Sony’s London Studio 'reallocates' finances
Development of two big-budget first-party Sony titles, The Getaway and Eight Days - both of which were in production at the firm's London Studio - have been suspended.
The move comes after a budget re-evaluation. The resources dedicated to the two games will now be focused on projects which are closer to completion.
A statement from the studio confirming the news read: "It has been agreed that production of both Eight Days and The Getaway will cease immediately due to the redistribution of resources and budget.

A very sad day...
The 2 Getaway games on the PS2 were sublime and I was eagerly waiting for the third incarnation. Here's hoping that 'canned' simply means all code generated so far is kept safe until developers can return and continue this great franchise.
Re: A very sad day...
@Michael
All code generated so far = One mock video trailer of the E3 2005 Killzone 2 variety.
Re: Re: A very sad day...
wait a minute paul the so called mock video for killzone 2 look **** compared to the new in-game video.
Re: Re: Re: A very sad day...
@crawford1990
The mock killzone 2 video was shown in 2005 and was said to be actual gameplay running on a dev kit, the game is coming out in 2009, maybe they just needed 4 years of play testing all that real gameplay footage they were showing?

Killzone 2 was the lie that came back to bite them, after everyone made such a big stink about that video they had to spend 4 years and one of the biggest budgets ever to try and replicate it
Oh and where is the PSP version of GT4?

Sony is the master of vaporware.
Do you want me to go on or do you get the point now?
GTA: London
The Getaway was good, but a budget version of GTA. Tbh, if they make a new gen version of GTA: london, that will rock.
Re: GTA: London
@Zildjian: yeah it wasn't on the same power as GTA but i liked the way it was always a lot darker than GTA. Would've been a big title on the PS3, one of those ones that sneak up on the charts and gets to #1 out of nowhere.
I'd rather a Getaway on the 360 than another Saints Row :(
Re: Re: GTA: London
@ka0znrky
Saints Row was buggy as hell and not as good as GTA but i did enjoy it and for their first attempt i thought it did ok, it didn't have the depth that GTA has but some things it actually did better. If they can build on what they did in the first game and address some of the weak points who knows?
@Zildjian
Agreed, GTA: london would be cool.
Re: Re: Re: GTA: London
@Paul: I didn't mean for my comment to seem negative. I liked Saints Row as well, was money well spent and will def be picking up the next one once i get done with GTA.
I meant to say same type of game as in the themes and settings with GTA and Saints Row having whats become a stereotype - american city with gangs and criminals whereas the Getaway offers a different experience even though it still falls within that genre.
