Americans ‘clueless’ about Blu-Ray

Only 45 per cent of HDTV owners in territory know what a Blu-Ray disc is

A new nationwide US survey has concluded that less than half of high-definition television owners in the know what a Blu-Ray disc is.

According to CNet, that's an improvement over a year ago, up from the 35 per cent of HDTV owners who recognised the format in June 2007.

According to The NPD Group, 45 percent of HDTV owners surveyed said they were "familiar" with the format, but only nine percent said they planned on buying a Blu-Ray player in the next six months.

The report also suggested that Blu-Ray player prices are still too high compared with less expensive upscaling DVD players that are "good enough" for most consumers.

@2 reminds me of a You Tube clip of an American TV show. 3rd grade geography question - Budapest is the capital of which European country?

The girl says to the presenter "This may sound like a stupid question...but I thought Europe was a country."

LOL!

This difference between Blu-Ray and a DVD is amazing on a decent setup, it's alot better than DVD.

I don't really care about blu-ray for movies, all I want is a good picture on a decent sized screen with good sound. If i want a mega experience i'll go to a cinema and prefer it that way. However when it comes to gaming Blu-ray is something to look forward to, especially for the next gen.

Only probelm is that with the capacity of the blu-ray some developers still feel the need to install half the damn disc on ur machine ... how about we stop trying to make better dvd's and just make the dvd reader work a little faster.
