Wii Fit stock shock continues

Nintendo tells MCV it is doing 'everything we can' to remedy High Street shortages

Following Wii Fit's spectacular plummet from the All Formats Chart, Nintendo has told MCV that it is doing everything it can to resolve the game's UK stock shortage.

Accepting there was an issue, Nintendo told MCV: “There are pockets of stock shortages in areas of the UK but we are doing everything we can to replenish shortages as soon as possible.

"To this effect we are continuing to bring Wii Fit stock into retailers across the UK on a weekly basis.”

Verdict Research’s Nick Gladding added:
“I think there’s obviously an issue with the product cycle and the Wii Fit situation has been heightened by increased console sales.”

Don McCabe, MD of CHIPS is just one of the retailers feeling the pressure: “Certainly with Wii Fit we’ve never had enough stock from day one.”

So stock is coming in to the Uk each week? Through which distributors? Gem ain't got any, Centersoft don't know when they are getting any and as for Nindie....................

This is once again an absolute shambles, we have a waiting list of around 250 people so far, its been like that since the first "avaliable" restock nearly 4 weeks ago

How does one guarantee the continued success of what is essentially a fad? You lie about stock levels to create demand.

What a load of old tosh.

"There are pockets of stock shortages" LIE!

Their is no stock anywhere in the U.K.

"We are continuing to bring Wii FIt stock into retailers..... on a weekly basis" LIE!

What retailers are these? As no.1 stated, Centresoft, Gem & Koch have had no stock. I've also been checking Argos's website and the 10 nearest stores to me haven't had any for 3 weeks either.

Nintendo - why try to feed us this obvious bull?

Currys are in the same situation. I don't get it, Nintendo finally make a success of next gen technology only to let the masses down. On my days I off I work at an Independent (voluntarily) and it's the same story there also, customer comes in asks for wii fit leaves.
P.S. Nintendo we want your product. DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT YARNTON!

New stock has arrived in Spain from somewhere, one of the retail chains over here put new stock out this morning. Was limited to 1 per customer but picked up a couple just so we could have them as cant get them anywhere now.
Even the Wii's are selling out again.

Most euro stock will be going to Germany first, Nintendo always support the German market.
The bulk of any stock that is made will go to Japan and USA first. That's the way it's always been.

Supply & Demand

I still don't get it ... are nintendo really clever or insanely stupid??? Either way it makes me lose complete faith in a company which i (naively) thought was for the gamers and not for the money.

Either they are incompetent and can't do a simple task like making enough machines for their customers
OR
They are greedy bastards who are trying to rip everyone off

Either way this generation has definetely painted nintendo in a different light for me.

'Stock going into stores on a weekly basis'.

A blatant lie if I ever saw one. Just for that comment alone this idiot who made it should fall on his sword.

Chill guys, Nintendo has limited production capabilities, there is a limit to how much of anything a company can produce in the short run due to diminishing returns on inputs of production.
You can't just toss up new factories on a moments notice, life doesn't work that way, it takes time and investment to build new lines of production, and Nintendo is too conservative a company to do that until they are certain that the demand is long lasting

axt113 you are talking ****e! Nintendo do this with every new product which they hype! they deliberately limit stocks to keep demand up. no wonder they have fallen away from the console market they once ruled!
