Gordon Brown attempted to bribe MP with honour to push through terror legislation, alleges UK press
Harsh critic of the video games industry Keith Vaz has been offered a knighthood by Prime Minister Gordon Brown, UK national newspapers have alleged.
According to The Times and The Guardian, there have been ‘strong hints’ that Vaz was offered the honour as part of a series of bribes from Brown to Labour MPs, in return for them voting for his controversial new terror detention laws.
Vaz, MP for Leicester East , has ‘strongly denied’ the rumour.
Mr. Brown’s proposals to extend the maximum time that police can hold terrorist suspects from 28 to 42 days were approved by MPs by a margin of 315 votes to 306 yesterday.
Vaz has been a long-term enemy of violent video games – most notably Rockstar. He has called for bans on both Manhunt games, as well s 2006’s Bully (Canes Canim Edit).

Mr. Vaz told Parliament in March that modern games feature ‘virtual rape’.

Dirka
Great picture. What a b*stard.
Re: Dirka
The government’s administration hates games and gamers, but I bet they wished only gamers hated them!
Wonder what his new title will be?
Lord Whitewash? Sir Liesalot?
Re: Re: Dirka
If that is true, then not only is Brown a dour Jock, but a bent one. He may have dug his own grave by pushing this 42 day rule. I thought we were a country of civil liberty and justice. Perhaps not.
Re: Re: Dirka
he looks like a turtle...TURTLE POWER!!
Re: Re: Re: Dirka
Since when have we been a country of civil liberty Percy?
Re: Re: Re: Re: Dirka
They probably hate him as much as we do, but they are probably thinking "give him a knighthood, that will hopefully shut him up" which it wont. They mans been mired in so much sleaze and corruption in the past (hence why he had to "move sideways" and go for the MEP gig in the first place), they would be crazy to give him an honour.
