PS3 set for ‘software avalanche’

Metal Gear Solid just the beginning of new dawn for system, says Sony product boss

VP of product marketing at SCEA Scott Steinberg has stated that the release of Konami’s MGS4 is just the beginning of a “software avalanche” for PS3.

Writing on the official PlayStation blog, Steinberg wrote:

‘Thanks to PS3’s Blu-Ray technology, this is the biggest Metal Gear Solid yet and sets a new benchmark in the gaming industry as the first PS3 game developed on a dual layer Blu-ray disc. This means the Konami team is able to deliver more cutting-edge graphics, more expansive gameplay and more surround sound….

‘For our PS2 enthusiasts, this is a great time to consider upgrading to a PS3 with the Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots PS3 80GB bundle ($499), which includes the popular 80GB PS3, a copy of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, a DUALSHOCK 3 controller, as well as a free download for the PSN title, PAIN.

‘With highly anticipated titles such as Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, Grand Theft Auto IV and SingStar and with Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, this is only the beginning of an ongoing software avalanche for PS3 that includes titles such as LittleBigPlanet, SOCOM: Confrontation, MotorStorm Pacific Rift and Resistance 2 that only PS3 owners will be able to exclusively enjoy.’

'Software avalanche'…hmm, let's just look up the definition of 'avalanche'… okay, here goes;

'A large mass of any material moving rapidly downhill'

That sounds like the PS3 games catalogue to me.

When ohhh When is this avalanche going to take place please tell me just recently brushed off the dust on my PS3 to play MGS4 on mind you that game is awesome. But sad state of affairs when I have 14 blu rays and one game on my PS3. Where on my 360 I have 14 games come Sony get finger out and give us some more games with the same love that has been shown with MGS4. Also dont you dare release another turd simliar to HAZE. Waited a eternity for that game lucky I played the demo and looked at a few reviews im happy I rented saved myself about £35

Avalanche?

Great stuff, I tell ya, if Sony were as good at releasing decent games in this generation as they are spinning yarn about nothing, they would be miles ahead.

Sigh......

Are the 3 titles cancelled this week included in the "avalanche" ?

Just curious.
