Nintendo to delight core gamers at E3

‘Several’ E3 announcements will interest the hardcore, insists spokesperson

Nintendo is set to reveal its full fourth quarter line-up at E3 next month, and the firm is planning to please its core-gamer contingent in the run-up to the show.

Nintendo’s Marc Franklin told Gamepro that the hardcore gamer is still important to the Wii’s success.

"The clear majority of people waiting in line outside retailers on Sunday mornings to buy their Wii consoles are core gamers," he said.

“We recently announced the upcoming release of Mario Super Sluggers, and additionally we will be announcing several new titles that core gamers will be interested in around the time of E3."

The Mario publisher’s current confirmed end-of-year line up only consists of Mario Super Sluggers, but rumours are circulating that F Zero, Starfox and even a Kid Icarus revival could be set to join it.

I'm all for the wii and its strange but enjoyable games that are available for it but its been a little thin on big games. It has seemed like the only ones willing to put the time and effort into making a high quality game that lasts longer than 5 mins is nintendo themselves.

Hopefully this will be a big boost to the range available on the wii and might even encourage some other developers to start viewing the wii as not just a console with a twist but as a viable gaming platform.

f-zero!

what about another nintendo made game with balance board support!
hardcore gamers outweigh casual gamers by millions so it is in their own intrest to do this.

This is great stuff as its about time Nintendo announced something for the gamers rather than.... well......y'know everyone else.......

However, as much as I'd like to see an all new StarFox (that actually played like the original StarFox) and F-Zero, theres a small part of me that is really hoping that they announce something new.

Theres a limit to how excited I can get over the same old games with slighty better graphics and to be honest I doubt F-Zero will look that much better than the Gamecube version.

However, give me the classic Starfox with the say the graphics from the Starfox Assault and I'll be happy.

Maybe not excited but certainly happy.

But then again, this spokesperson said 'will make core gamers interested' which is what worries me.

I want to be excited not interested, if I did, I'd watch a documentary about deep sea creatures or something like that.

Fingers crossed though!

@3

I'm still not in a very forgiving mood towards Nintendo... They'd better have something more impressive than a few updated sequels.
