Nickelodeon forms new games operation

New games and virtual world division to expand Nickelodeon’s subscription services and self-publishing businesses

Nickelodeon’s Kids and Family group has formed a new Games and Virtual World division, designed to provide more gaming and virtual world experiences.

The new group will handle all current subscription games as well as CD-ROM, handheld and console software. It will also look after Nickelodeon’s casual game sites Shockwave and AddictingGames, along with the Neopets virtual community and Nicktropolis ‘playground’. The group will also develop original virtual world properties such as World of Neopia and Monkey World.

General manager David Williams and senior vice president Kyra Reppen will lead the new group.

“With these two dedicated teams, our new gaming and virtual world divisions will further enable us to create even more relevant content and foster innovation in the virtual world and gaming spaces,” said executive vice president of Digital Media Steve Youngwood.

“Dave and Kyra have built great momentum in their respective areas, and will provide more engaging experiences for our audiences in their expanded leadership roles.”
