Need for Speed Undercover... uncovered

Next instalment out this year, whilst Riccitiello says that franchise is moving onto two-year development cycle

Speaking at the William Blair & Company Growth Stock Conference in Chicago yesterday, EA CEO John Riccitiello announced that the next instalment in its popular street racing series Need for Speed will be dubbed ‘Undercover’, GameSpot reports.

However, following previous comments in which the outspoken executive admitted to disappointment concerning the quality of 2007’s Need for Speed: ProStreet, Riccitiello also confirmed that the franchise is moving from its current 12 month development cycle to a 24 month cycle.

"We were torturing a very talented group of people up in Vancouver, which makes it harder to be as innovative every year," Riccitiello stated. "I'm confident that Undercover is a much better game than ProStreet, and I expect that from this point forward that we'll do a lot better."

Other announcements included a Q1 2009 release for BioWare’s Dragon Age and Pandemic’s Saboteur, as well as the confirmation that Godfather II is in development.

They need to get back to street racing aswell as the NFS series simply isn't good enough as a circuit racer to go up against the likes of PGR, FORZA, Grid and Gran Tursimo.

I believe Pro Street wasnt good because it never had the element of racing on the streets to enjoy n4s i had to go back to 'most wanted' i do have carbon but i like to drive in the day time night is good but street racing takes place at all times of the day. so tip for undercover get illegal racing back switch between day and night bring challenge series back as a mini game and more cars to choose from p.s try and get a ferrari in the game

yeah NFS most wanted was by far the best and I don't understand why they moved away from that. The graphics were better than any need for speed and it just had better game play. I think most people liked the fact that it was arcade and not a simulation people do get tired of playing those and they like that in a game a car can run into a pole and not get smashed. Another thing is the day time is better than the night, people like having options as far as what they are putting on their cars and some people actually want to paint a street racing car and not have 50 decals on it. if they really want to be successful with the new release of this game they should come out with it like most wanted. But the 1 down side of most wanted was the fact that you had to get the bounty too high 10,000,000 to beat the game I didn't like that.
