Chief executive Bish-Jones booted out following sales slump

Trevor Bish-Jones, CEO for UK retailer Woolworths has left his position at the firm in what the retailer has described as an amicable split.

Richard North, chairman for Woolworths, said: “The search for his successor is underway but in the meantime we are pleased that he has agreed to stay on for the next three months to ensure continuity.”

The surprise departure of Bish-Jones, which comes after six years in the position, follows a tough time for Woolworths, which has struggled recently and suffered a fall in sales. While entertainment sales have improved during Bish-Jones’ tenure, shares are at an all-time low.

From a games perspective, it is not surprising - Woolworths has been pricing their games way too high for them to be competitive in recent months. Much like HMV, the only time consumers can find a decent price is in the sales.

Wii Fit Sucks

Woolworths video games section is appalling with gaps everywhere, boxes advertising stock they don't have, out of date charts, high prices and to top it off the staff utterly clueless when it comes to the product.
Woolies should stick to selling garden furniture and pick 'n mix as they're clearly out of their depth with video games.
