The Beatles licence up for grabs

Guitar Hero and Rock Band battling it out for Fab Four’s back catalogue

Representatives for The Beatles are in negotiations with the companies behind Rock Band and Guitar Hero with a view to licensing the Fab Four’s music.

According to the Financial Times, Activision and MTV are both keen to create a Beatles-themed video game.

The newspaper reports that the move ‘could pave the way for a broader licensing of the Fab Four's catalogue’.

Actually it's about time that The Beatles have finally made their way onto these kinda games. Ok it's not everyone's cup of tea but it'll be a darn site better than some of the dross that's been released so far on Guitar Hero!

@Pantythief: I second that. Not a huge Beatles fan but in terms of playing along with their music it would be much more suited to the game.

I hope Activision don't get it. Harmonix seem to be focusing on creating a world for Rock Band so that you buy the stuff once and from there you download the songs which they are constantly adding too. Activision however are expanding their dev team for guitar hero and will no doubt be pumping out a brand new game every 5 months by next year. I dont really like the idea of paying £40+ for a game with a set number of songs over and over when i can buy one game once and download the ones i want for a lot less.

In replay to the comment that implied that I know nothing about music I take it then that you may know nothing or music either because you have presumably never heard of Nurse with Wound. A lack of apreciation of someone else's musical tastes does not indicate a lack of knowledge pertaining to music, FYI the second most overrated band are the Smiths, but never mind what I think, I know nothing!
