Guns Of The Patriots download available on PS3 from June 26th
Konami has announced that a free downloadable add-on for Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns Of The Patriots will be made available on PS3 on Thursday (June 26th) in Europe.
The Metal Gear Solid 4 Database is a comprehensive archive detailing characters, weapons and plot elements from 1987’s original Metal Gear title right through to the most recent title.
According to Konami, the system allows users to search via three central hubs: GENE (a glossary), MEME (which maps the relationships between characters in the series), and SCENE (a timeline for the series).
Users can jump from page to page using specific keywords, with the relevant information appearing instantly. All information relating to Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, however, can only be accessed when the software detects a save data file created when the game has been completed, as to avoid spoiling the final adventure.
A statement from Konami reported: ‘Metal Gear Solid 4 Database is a stunning – and completely free – companion to the series, and will answer any question pertaining to Hideo Kojima’s games and characters.’

MGS4
First, I think this is great 4r new players and us old vets, As metal gear is one ell,of a story & is very complicated. Im sure ill learn something from it
Re: MGS4
The 'MGS Database' is already on the Jap & US Playstation Store, it's in loads of lanuages including english. Why wait, download now.
to marty
yes its on the US store but the users European savefile will not work with the US database, i tried it. Doesn't work. I've completed it 6 times already.
Re: Re: MGS4
Why wait? Because the US and Japanese versions don't read your PAL game save data - therefore, you can't access the MGS4 area of the Database. See PS3 Attitude for details...
Re: Re: MGS4
You can download now (I did ASAP), but the database can't read your completed save file so no MGS4 info.
Btw this is VERY awesome, good stuff on being free. New people to the series should feel more comfortable.
@ nick
Well said nick, this can help new comers to get the best out the story & time line of metal gear.
Re: @ nick
When will it hit the US PSN? As usual Europe is a favourite, as in every previous MGS :)
