MGS4 assistant producer talks next game, hints at possibility of prequel
We’ve been told time and time again that Metal Gear Solid 4 is the closing part of the Solid Snake story – but assistant producer Ryan Payton has reaffirmed that fact that there’s likely to be more Metal Gear ahead.
Speaking to 1UP, Payton insisted that whilst MGS4 was the closing chapter for the series’ leading man, Solid Snake, there’s plenty more in the game’s universe that can be explored – including the back-story to main villain Big Boss.
"There are some misunderstandings that this is the final Metal Gear game. But it's really the final chapter of the Solid Snake story. That's all. There is still a lot of room for filling in the gaps as far as Big Boss is concerned.
"I'm happy we could wrap up Snake's story in MGS4 because it gets to the point where if we continue on with Metal Gear Solid 5 with more Solid Snake adventures, we'll get to the point where the game has absolutely no basis in reality.
“I do like the idea that this character has had four or five big missions and then that's when it ended, rather than have 20 missions where there's no chance in hell a secret agent could ever survive. He's had four or five really big missions, and that seems a little more realistic to me."

cool
While snake is the man it seems a shame to waste such a rich cast of characters by not exploring some of their own archs. Much better idea than just making another solid snake outting as it would be destined for criticism.
Re: cool
I think a game featuring Raidens story between MGS 2 & 4 would be awesome! They could go into detail on what happened through that 5 year gap.
Hark
Re: Re: cool
does that mean we can expect halo 4 as well? lol
Re: Re: Re: cool
There is going to a Halo 4 'mm'
With MGS IV being the final story of Snake, I don't agree as without the legendary hero at the helm of the series driving it, there is no series forward....look at the backlash they got when they put Raiden in control on the second part of MGS II?, I rest my case, without Snake (David Hayter) there is no future for the series.
I want to see them find a reverse for the aging of Snake, hell even Johnny and Meryl get into a massive fight and get divorce and her going back to Snake (LOL am I reaching here? :P)
