The thing is if konami really wants to make money they should release for multiple platforms. because wow a million copies 1 week come on look at halo 3. for such a big franchise they should have made 10X that by now. But i guess money is not important system loyalty is.

Metal Gear has never been a seller like Halo 3. When Halo 3 launched, one in two Xbox owners bought the game which shows you the type of loyalty that franchise has.

In regards to porting exclusives, there is always an argument for that but it spouted last year when people stated the PS3's install base - or should I say the install base of Konami's target audience - was not big enough to get a good profit. But since last year the install base has gone up sharply to 13million as stated by Sony a few months ago. Selling 1million in a week only, in just Europe, shows you the game is very successful PlayStation owners have never been as hardcore as the Xbox owners. 1 in 2 bought Halo, that's astonishing and no game will ever achieve a stat like that not even Metal Gear on that platform.

But hey, if its all about money, I guess Halo should be ported onto the PS3 aswell.

Well, in case you didnt notice this is ONLY in europe. MGS4 sold 1.3 MILLION copies on DAY 1! thats really impressive for a PS3 games. Its a very good result to have sold over 1 million copies just in europe allready at this stage.

MGS4 has done great selling so much, over such a little time, in europe alone. Halo 3 received so much 'propaganda' that it was always going to sell well and oh, guess what, it didn't satisfy gamers for **** because it was over-hyped so damn much. Well even after the hpye MGS4 satisfied me - FULLY =P. Hehehe. Bottom line is, the sales figures of a game dont make it great. If anybody has a PS3, my PSN is hasler12 =).

Seriously, Konami needs to wake up. This game should've been released on the XboX. XboX is the future of gaming and it won't be long before even Nintendo outsells Sony's sorry piece of crap (Not denying PS3 as a good platform, but I simply dislike too many aspects of the PS3 as a whole ... and Nintendo's making a comback baby wooo :-D )
You can use all the catch phrases you want, but the fact is that MGS4 sold less than MGS2 and MGS3.
I seriously doubt I'll purchase a PS3 just for the sake of playing one game (no matter how great it is). It's truly a shame. I loved MGS, and thought it was one of the best series ever (especially MGS1).
However, unless they release one for XboX or Wii, I fear I'll never play another one again.

These charts clearly outline XBox as number 2. Thank you for pointing out that the only thing keeping Sony afloat is the PSP. PS3 is a good little machine, but they're only second in japan and otherwise third fiddle. Japan is an important market, but not as important as north america, however. The thing about Sony is they focus too much on Japan. Xbox focuses more on NA and Europe. Sounds like a second coming of Sega Saturn to me.

I have yet to buy either system, but will probobly buy more than one whenever I get my own apartment.

The one thing I will credit PS3 as having an advantage in is its zonelessness (if that's a word). Xbox has a much better online service, however. Wii is just fun as hell.
