Summer sales madness grips UK

Software and hardware prices slashed across country at HMV, Zavvi and Play.com

Major retailers Play, Zavvi and HMV have slashed the prices on leading game software and hardware in time for the summer.

HMV has slashed 70 per cent off certain titles, with 360 title Lost on sale for £17.99 and the Wii edition of Speed Racer on offer for £14.99.

Play.com has knocked up to 75 per cent of games, including Rainbow Six Vegas 2 (steel edition) on 360 and PS3 for £17.99 and Ninja Gaiden II for £24.99.

However, the big sale is over at Zavvi, which includes the Halo 3 Special Edition Xbox 360 for just £150 and GTA IV on PS3 for £25, in certain stores.

MCV reported yesterday that the music, DVD and games retailer had launched what it called 'the best entertainment sale ever' - with titles being sold as cheap as £2.

I'm sure they aren't exactly planning on making a big profit. The idea is to get people's attention and get them in the store so that hopefully they'll come back again.

Looking forward to it.
