Officially licensed Beijing 2008 released to retail today

The summer of sports continues with today’s release of Sega’s Olympic Beijing 2008. The game, the only official licensed title for the Olympic event, follows a spate of games making the most of this years sport filled summer.

A Sega spokesperson told MCV that all the environments, stadiums, arenas, athletes and kits are a true-life representation of the Olympics themselves  and the game includes 1000’s of individual athletes to choose between. With multiplayer and online capabilities the game has a training mode, with tutorials in each discipline, a competition mode – where players can face friends offline and online, and a career mode where gamers can build their own team.

The highly anticipated title, set to receive a sales spike when the Olympics kick off on August 8th features 38 events.
