New EA title heading to Xbox 360 first, other platforms to follow
IGN has reported that the ‘second generation’ music title will hit Xbox 360 in September, with further SKUs on other platforms due later this year.
The report confirms that downloadable content for the first Rock Band will be fully compatible with the sequel, while upgraded versions of the drum kit, guitar and microphone will also be launched, but no firm details on what the improvements might be have been revealed.
"As successful as the original Rock Band continues to be, we've now had the benefit of the last eight months to listen to our fans' requests and to build upon that foundation," co-founder and CEO of Harmonix Alex Rigopulos told IGN. "Rock Band 2 is a second-generation band game that will elevate the music game experience to the next level."

Looking forward to this alot. Although I only got RB a month and a bit ago, I'll definitely get the RB2.
PS3 Release - "Big Sigh"
Surely this news must totally kill off any hopes of a release of RB1 on PS3 in Europe as the time between them both would only be a matter of months?
Euroland have been kept waiting too long for this on PS3 whereas the rest of the world have had it from day one! The only saving grace being we've not had to splash out £180 on something with dodgy peripherals. But yet again XBox before PS3 - AAArrrrrgggghh!!
Still..... Looking forward to this AND Guitar Hero IV in Q4!!
Re: PS3 Release - "Big Sigh"
I haven't seen the figure but I would guess that most people who bought Rock Band in Europe bought the Solus version to play with their GH3 guitars. I know I did.
