Specialist chain continues expansion ahead of peak season
GAME Group’s latest trading statement has revealed that it plans to open up to 60 new stores for the Christmas trading period, with the majority of the new outlets pencilled in for its international business.
The statement continues: “As part of our International growth strategy we are continuing to buy-in or close existing franchises. To this end, we have today completed the purchase of five of the remaining seven French franchise stores for a cost of €1.8m (£1.43m). These stores will now be operated as part of our core business and gives us a total of 181 stores in France.”
“Our capital expenditure for the year, excluding acquisitions, is estimated to be around £42m.”
The retail chain also revealed its sales figures, a big name new recruit and an update on how the Gamestation integration is going.

Game over here are not liked by alot of the Spanish. Their prices are very high and the trade in value of games is pathetic - helps us as we are starting with Spanish games so GAME keep it up :)

I think game are going to go bust. If it wasnt for Nintendo they would allready be bust. The people that recently got out of the company did a very smart thing.

@2: Is that supposed to be funny?
And how exactly do you see them going bust when the gaming industry is stronger than its ever been? In the UK they are the most dominant retailer for games and consoles.
Don't get me wrong i'm not their biggest fan and have recently ventured into the world of online shopping and found it to be much better for my pocket but they are clearly doing very well for themselves :(
And how has Nintendo stopped them from going bust?
Nonsense.

@Bob: its not really saturation, they are expanding into territories that they aren't established in, like last year with Australia. They aren't really opening any new stores in the UK unless under special circumstances as it dilutes their profits for each store which looks bad on paper (even though it all adds up).
