Developer-backed push for Government support plans constituency MP visits to game studios - and more
The organisers of the Games Up campaign have put out a call to action for further backing from UK games firms.
With the launch of the official Games Up campaign site at www.gamesup.co.uk and plans to start lobbying parliament directly, the organisers are looking to drive further support from games studios and publishers in the UK after a month of intensive press activity – head over to sister site Develop for more details.

I like the idea, but i'm not getting behind this until i see something getting done as i'm really tired of "committees" and "parties" who do a lot of discussing and drawing up plans and initiatives. The Byron(*spelling*?) report has sort of burnt me out.

Re: :)
Unfortunately I can't see this having much of an impact on the government, as they probably don't see supporting the games industry as a vote winner , then there's the ID cards bill and the 2012 Olympics, nothing short of immanent failure at the ballot box would dissuade them from introducing ID cards!
Re: Re: :)
Why would they support an industry that, in their minds and the medias at least, is directly responsbile for all the anti-social behaviour and knife crime that our youth indulges in?
Re: Re: Re: :)
Sadly I think you're correct, though I can't fault the campaign for trying. If nothing else it may help rebalance the scales with respect to all the negative publicity games feel. But the ignorance, arrogance and corruption of this administration is colossal. Digby Jones, the minister for Trade and Investment recently said that he didn't even realise games were a proper business, and we all know that Keith Vaz is in line for a gong. We aren't going to win this, so we might as well all pack our bags and move to France or Canada now.
