Spore could be the new Sims, says EA

New title can have same ‘long tail’ effect as Will Wright’s last smash, says publisher

Giant publisher Electronic Arts has great expectations for its upcoming innovative title Spore, comparing its long term potential with the ever-popular Sims series.

The DS, PC and Mac title, set for release on Friday September 5th, comes from the man behind The Sims, Will Wright, and gives players a similar level of interaction as the massively successful series that has virtually been a constant presence in the PC ChartTrack listings.

“We anticipate Spore to have the same ‘long tail’ success as The Sims. Just like The Sims, Spore is going to be fuelled by user created content,” declared Claire Ridley, EA marketing manager for The Sims and Spore.

“With the release of the Creature Creator and over one million creatures already created by players within the first week, it is clear to see how players are going to be constantly pushing the boundaries and populating the Spore universe with fresh content themselves,” Ridley told MCV.

She added: “Plus, as a business, we at Electronic Arts are going to be able to deliver new content which further enriches players’ gameplay and essentially fuels their appetite to play more.”

Now Spore can be the new game EA tries to sponge as much money off people with useless expansion packs and probably extra downloads to buy things for an extortionate price that add hardly anything to the game.
Will Wright is a legend props to him, just a shame his mixed up with a company like EA

Looks like a great game. But the DRM

I will buy this as soon as they remove ther DRM that only allows 3 activations, and then buy a new box.

If you reinstall, or change hardware in you computer, you need to activate again, and after 3 times you need to buy a new box, or find a crack for it.

And I don't wan't to crack a game that I have payed money for, and I don't want to buy the same game severel times.
So for me it ether don't buy it, or just get a pirate copy the first time.
....... I just pick don't buy

After the death and mishandling of The Sims Online by EA I have too much of a bitter taste in my mouth to swallow another series by them.

Looks to be the game of the year with the wide base of people it will draw from. Whether we gamers like it or not may be in question, but those that game little will continue to game hard on this game just like they did with the Sims. Beware the power of housewives gaming! lol

If they only allow 3 activations, I'm not buying it.
I'll just pirate it, and give it out.
