Too Human demo confirmed for tonight

UPDATE: Demo now availabvle to download on Xbox Live

Alongside talk of a possible new Geometry Wars title hitting the Xbox Live servers tonight, Microsoft has confirmed that a playable demo of Silicon Knights’ upcoming Too Human will go live in conjunction with the platform holder’s E3 press conference at 18:30 this evening.

Too Human has been in development since 1999, and was originally announced as a four-disc adventure for Sony’s first PlayStation, though shortly after it was first revealed it then became a GameCube exclusive. After a prolonged period of silence, in 2005 a new exclusivity deal with Microsoft and the Xbox 360 was announced.

The title was originally being developed using Epic’s Unreal Engine 3, but following a very public dispute between Epic and Silicon Knights the developer shifted the game to a new in-house engine.

Too Human was originally announced as the first part of a console trilogy, the likelihood of which surely rests on the success of the first title, which is due out at the end of August.

UPDATE:
The demo has in fact already cropped up on Xbox Live.

Expect this will become one of the largest ever demo downloads on XBL.
So many people are looking for this game to fail, especially following Dennis Dyacks outspokenness surrounding this recently, and if it does will relish the opportunity to attack DD.
I personally hope it succeeds although early reports don't give it alot of hope.
I enjoy DD's insight into the video game industry (although not sure I agree with the one console vision).

I broke my pad

I've been playing the the demo for the best part of this late afternoon. While it does carry some nice features, like a very user friendly menu system and a good range of characters each with their own unique skills and abilities, it's gameplay is pretty lacking and overall it's quite a hollow experience. The combat is run-of-the-mill and lacks any kind of 'pazazz', a simple case of 'seen it all before'. Visually it's also pretty lacking with poor animation, low level detail, (in the face of games like MGS 4, Mass Effect and Gears of War), and some laughable facial features, (characters eyes, for example, look like they could roll out of their skulls at any given moment). Also. the less said about the voice acting the better.

For all of Dyaks harping on about how unfair everyone was towards the preview scans/movies, unjustly judging Too Human having not played the game, I'm afraid to say it's not quite the masterpiece he seems to think it is, far from it. Terrible? No, but having now had a good play with Too Human I can see it disappearing amongst the pre-owned sections a lot quicker than the publishers might of liked and that's the only time I'll now pick it up, when it's in the pre-owned section for about £20.
