Really?

Well, he was hardly ever going to say the PS3 was going to come out on top.

As for games being bigger than DVD and cinema that's because DVD's and cinema don't cost Ł40-50 a pop, so of course the numbers are going to be bigger. It's like MS banging on about how Halo 3 made more money than the last Harry Potter film; well of course it did, a ticket to see the latest Harry potter film was less than Ł10.

These people are ****ing idiots.

/lol.

Of course he'd say that PS3 was released at a later date and their marketing ploys have put off many would be buyers, does microsoft have to pry into every industry... it'll be mass military next.....

I'm gonna have to disagree with that statement. FFXIII is sort of a blow. But given the choice between changing discs a minimum of four times, not to mention keeping up with said discs and keeping them scratch free, and putting in a Blu-ray scratch resistant disc. I'll pick PS3. 360 does have achievements... wait... PS3 has trophies... hmmm.. Seems to me PS3 is still the system to get this game on if you own both.

Saying they will beat PS3 this year is a little ludicrous concidering LBP is coming, so is White Knight Chronicles. So is the new resistance and killzone. So is home.

I'm waiting to make further comment on this situation until after Sony's conference tomorrow. The Netflix partnership is a great idea however, gonna be interesting to see how Sony fights that.

And so the massage damage control from the PS3 fanboys begins, courtesy of Glasspaper, here.

@ # 1, stop talking nonsense.
There are over 6 billion humans on the planet. Out of that 6 billion, every one of them could go see Harry Potter, little tots and granny's alike. On the other hand Halo 3 was limited to only the 20 million humans who own a 360 on this planet, that is less than .003% of the 6 billion people market for the Harry Porter movie. For a game that was only open to 20 million humans, to generate more revenue than a movie that is open to 6 billion humans is impressive, no matter how you twist it . I don’t care how much Halo 3 cost as compared to a ticket for Harry Porter movie. After all a Harry Porter movie ticket cost $10 to Halo 3’s $60, making is just a 6:1 ratio. Meanwhile, Harry Porter was on had a market of 6 billion, compared to Halo 3’s 20 million, making it a 300:1 ratio advantage for Harry Porter. Plus Halo 3 had an adult rating, leaving out all kids, while Harry Porter was open to everyone. It makes Halo 3’s figures even more impressive.

Of course he is going to make bullish statements. He has to justify his salary somehow. If he said "well, we are gonna end up better than we did with the first xbox, we have a way larger customer base, and at least the public are taking us more seriously now as a console manufaturer. Things will be even tighter on round 3 folks!" he would get the sack, you can't seriously expect anything these guys say to be based on realitydo you?

Im an xbox 360 owner, and even I know Sony will win, and quite frankly i dont care. What I do care about is that my 360 of two years old has just died on me. I now have a stack of games, and a 20GB HD i can't use. What do i do? Buy another cheap 360 and run the risk of it happening again, or do i save some cash and buy a more reliable PS3?

I really wish they would get their manufacturing sorted out rather than sweeping it under the carpet.

@Woodins: Umm Let me see? I would ring MSFT and get a replacement, assuming its a RROD problem. Those nice MSFT people did extend the warranty to 3 years you know? Alternatively buy an Arcade for 150 quid and put your 20Gb HD in it. It's hardly rocket science this. Free / 150 quid - keeping all your games and downloads - versus a F'ing expensive PS3 where you would have to rebuy all your games. Oh and PS3 is not all that reliable, many, many reports of freezing etc. . .but not the catastrphic hardware failures of 360 though.

@11. You call us stupid wen u tak lik diz? Please, if you'd like to 'Throw down' with your thoughts about the gaming industry please consider using a spell check.

All this fight talk is giving me a headache. I'm sick to death of the way Microsoft handle business, has no-one told them that shameless self promoting 24/7 makes you and your company look like school boy's? GOW2 will be the same as GOW but with better graphics, hardly ground-breaking, Fable was blown so out of proportion by Microsoft when it first came out no-one realised it was ****e and Fallout 3 will be released on PS3 anyway. I love it when Microsoft stamp "Only on Xbox 360" on their games then it get released on PS3, they must regret starting that!

I believe the xbox camp are talking like this because they now realise that the PS3 is becoming the beast it was meant to be, a couple more AAA games and the PS3 will be king.

Roll on God of War 3.

Agreed with jimothy.

however lee, "roll on God of War 3" ... that will be just the same as God of War 1 and 2 so ... your just shooting yourself in the foot really with that (not going to be ground breaking either ) heh.

In all fairness I cannot see either console "winning" at this point in time. Each has its strenghts and weaknesses, and let us not forget how Nintendo is stepping up to the plate as well, far surpassing both the 360 and PS3 for its more "family oriented" gameplay. The 360, while getting a head start of almost a year, is indeed doing well for itself. The problem isn't with the systems though, it is with the developers, they don't want to develop exclusive deals, they want their games to be available to all console owners whether they be PS3 or 360. And for good reason, look at how well Assassin's Creed sold and how much it made for being on both the PS3 and 360. Another problem Sony is faced with is the fact that the PS3 is an expensive console and they cannot drop their price anymore because they are already losing money as it is, whereas the 360 just dropped down in price by 100 which is going to appeal more to people who don't want to spend as much money for one console. I was also reading that because of economical strain Sony had to cancel some upcoming games completely, like Heavenly Sword 2, among others, as well as giving up exclusive rights to certain games like Finaly Fantasy XIII because they couldn't afford it. At this point in time, like I said, it is hard to predict where these consoles are going to be in the coming months, so we will just have to wait and see what happens
