UPDATE: Konami claims that game is now due for release this Autumn
With Guitar Hero IV and Rock Band 2 very much leading this year’s Christmas charge, Konami has announced that its own peripheral-based music game, Rock Revolution, will now be released in the first quarter of 2009.
Rock Revolution, which is being developed bu UK studio Zoe Mode, is primarily a drum game, and will include its own specialist drum peripheral. However, it will also be compatible with existing guitar controllers. More so, the Wii version will support ‘air-guitar’ and ‘air-drumming’ courtesy of the Wii Remote.
As the publisher points out, Konami’s heritage in the music genre is rich – it was the company behind the Dance Dance Revolution dance-mat revolution of the 1990’s, and has also wet it gills with the likes of Karaoke Revolution, Beatmania and Guitar Freaks.
Rock Revolution is in development for Xbox 360, PS3, Wii and DS.
UPDATE: A Konami rep has contacted MCV to say that the game is now due out in 'Fall 2008'.
