EA, Ubisoft, LucasArts and Activision all partner with service, but still no word of official launch date
Sony pledegd that consumer patience for the long-awaited comunity platform Home will be "rewarded" at its E3 press conference today - but there was no word of an official release date.
SCEA CEO and president Jack Tretton revealed that the service has enjoyed "great support" from publishers and evelopers keen to add content.
He also unveiled that EA, Ubisoft, LucasArts and Activision had all signed up to provide content to the platform - as had "non-gaming partner" Nike.
He said: "I promise, when PlayStation Home is finally publicly available, your patience will be more than rewarded. We've combined games film, music and branded content to provide the ultimate social experience for gamers.
"We've enjoyed great developer and publisher support. We've seen great momentum from Ubisoft, which has already been involved in the Beta of the service, but I can now announce that EA, Activisiona nd LucasArts have also all signed up to provide content - along with non-gaming partner Nike.
A brief video was then shown of Home, featuring 'social networking' activity within Resistance: Fall Of Man, Warhawk and Drake’s Fortune.

Come on
After this much of a wait its got to be better than great. Its so long in the making that it simply takes the piss.
Microsoft in the same time have continuously improved Live, and are now confirming avaters and new game shows ect on live. Sounds like sony have sat back on their laurels just too long this time.
When home does finally come out its just going to be yesterdays technology.
Its like Amstrad and the Email phone, a great idea, just released it too late
Re: Come on
Anythink short of a "semi", and I'll be dissappointed at this rate.
@ DM, I would suspect those improvements made to LIVE are or were already being built into Home.
Re: Re: Come on
Eventually. Promises, promises!
Re: Re: Re: Come on
You know I saw how microsofts avatar or so called "home" for microsoft looks like, and I am not impressed. Yea it would be loads of fun to have puny little characters to move around. Its just like the wii's avatar. Microsoft sucks balls in making something more creative. The netflix sounds great though. I have both ps3 and xbox360 so I am not trying to be biased.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Come on
They take so long making their products because they care about quality microsoft it's just here's the money now win. make something better than the competition. They just react to what their competitors are doing not making things for their selves. No offense but you (the author) seems biased against sony. Give them a chance to blow your minds away. come on. Mag? the agency? Dc universe? little big planet? home? this year is chalked full of new innovative exclusive titles give em a chance.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Come on
Question is though Dana, what is actually going to come this year? they hardly gave any dates. I think if they'd have done this, people wouldn't have been a tad disappointed by the press conference. They need to set dates, then people can really get excited.

"They take so long making their products because they care about quality"
Come on you can't honestly believe that, Just how many chances do we have to give Sony. They couldn't even get the release of the 2.40 update right and had to withdraw it. Still only 1 -2 games that support the trophy system, no cross game invites, no voice chat system while watching a film or cross game.Xbox 360 has all of this and more and is still working on improvements.
I have both consoles and have always been a Sony "Fanboy" but at this rate am seriously considering "ditching" my PS3 as all there seems to be from Sony are empty promises. Come on where are all the above features and some mind blowing games (especially multiplayer up to Gears and Halo standards)

What about the quality that XB360 ALREADY HAS?!
Time is everything in this industry, if you get to the point where your "peeing" people off then, your not doing a good job. Subliminal is right, Microsoft already 'got it' so to speak. If your going to talk about quality then think about this, Fable 2, Gears 2, Halo wars -- these titles don't only spell success for the industry for developers, i'm talking sales. These games sell. What sells for Sony? everything thing it doesn't own itself MGS4, Final Fantasy etc... guess what , i'll thank the developers for those babies not Sony.
