Sony Online Entertainment takes to the stage to reveal PS3 MMO based on DC Universe
Sony Online Entertainment has for the first time shown off its upcoming MMO based on the DS comic world, dubbed DC Universe Online.
The game will allow games to take control of heroes such as Superman or Batman, and villains such as Lex Luthor or the Joker, in a console MMO universe that looks to finally bring MMO gaming to the console masses.
No release date or costs have yet been announced, though the game has been confirmed for both PS3 and PC.

DCUO
I watched the Sony annoucement of the upcoming DC Universe game broadcast live on the G4 channel less than an hour ago. The visuals looked pretty good. I've always been a DC comics fan, and have not yet made the jump to MMO gaming. This game just might be enough to prompt me to buy a PS3.
One major correction to the above Ben Parfitt article needs to be made... players will NOT be allowed to take control of heroes such as Superman or Batman, or villians such as Lex Luthor or the Joker. Players will create their own characters and play alongside the iconic heroes and villians.
Re: DCUO
Why not 360 also? Live would be able to support this?
Still, I am gald it is at least coming to PC
Re: Re: DCUO
I agree, how can they bring the mmo to the console masses without target 360 owners. Aren't there more 360 owners than PS3 currently? (I am guessing, but I thought it was teh case)

Apart obviously from Final Fantasy XI that is an mmo and out on PS2 and 360?
But don't get to excited I think this game is being made by the team that managed succesfully to F*** up Star Wars Galaxies to an unbelievable degree after such a promising start.

I was under the impression that you don't get to play as these characters as they already exist in the DC universe. You can interact with them and even challenge them to a rumble, but not play as them. Rather you play as a new hero looking to make his/her mark in the DC world.

I can't wait for this MMO! As a current WoW player, DC is the only theme that can take me away from WoW. Yes, SOE did mess up Star Wars to the Nth degree (or at least the handling of it, some argue the current version is better), but hopefully that just taught them a lesson. That being said, I haven't been a fan of any SOE game yet since I work full time with a fam and dont' have hours on end to waste online. I do get my hour or so in a night though
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: DCUO
i was wondering if like you culd create a wolf man looking character or a huminoid. like in city of heros and city of villans.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: DCUO
question: Why not 360 also?
answer: The game is being created by Sony Online Entertainment. Why would Sony go to the bother of porting it to the 360 when this is a game that people will buy a PS3 just to play? I personally think it's a great marketing strategy to get more people on their console and really the 360 is only more popular than the PS3 in the US. It's not really the same in alot of other countries.
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: DCUO
So, will it be available on the PS2 or only on the PS3 and PC??!
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: DCUO
