Firm says it is ‘bringing in stock every week’ to cope with constant demand
Nintendo has responded to reports in national newspapers that it is set to ‘run out’ of Wii Fit stock, telling MCV that it is “bringing in units every week”.
Both The Daily Mail and Daily Telegraph this morning reported that the popular fitness game would be unavailable in the festive season – due to massive demand and a stock shortage.
However, a Nintendo UK spokesperson told MCV:
“We're bringing in stock every week across the UK and monitoring the current situation and sales at retail."
Last month, the title failed to chart for three weeks as retailers struggled to get their hands on stock.

Dont know about UK....
....but definitely have given some to Europe. We managed to get our stock, although nearly all gone already, but the bigger Spanish chains - CentroGame, GameStop, Media, have plenty. CentroGame which doesnt have the biggest of stores near us had over 100 on display alone (was being nosey).
Are Nintendo though only going to let the big chains have them or will they let the Indies have some of the action too?
Or will it just be the Fleabay people as usual with double the price Wii Fits?
What about us Indies
I like that all the major high street stores are getting deliveries every week for the last 3 - 4 weeks and yet there has been no sign of any in the independent side of things and we rely on things like this as it is what we specialise in.
The only way we can get it is to buy from Game, Woolies, Currys, Blockbusters, Asda etc...... and sell with other items to make money.
This is surely unfair trading as we are just getting left out.
Re: What about us Indies
From Matt's comments it seems that they are favouring the big chains - dont distributors realise that one day Tesco and the rest will shaft them big time.
Re: What about us Indies
How can wii Fit have been number in the all format chart W/E 12th July 07 when us Indies are being constantly told by KOCH, GEM & ADVANTAGE that there are none available & they have had none for weeks and not looking to get any before end of July. Obviously they are coming into the country (Nintendo Said So) so why is it yet again that us Indies are by passed. For Wii Fit to be Number 1 best selling game of that week it out sold Indie & Super smash Bros So where did all these Wii Fits come from And who was selling them.
I did manage to get 2 Wii Fits last week but I had to buy them from my local Newsagent who has been getting 6-10 each week over the last 4 weeks. Yet again us Indies ( Sorry Video Games Specialists) are being screwed by the system.
Re: Re: What about us Indies
It's like 1 day BMW only supplying their cars to the supermarkets and forgetting about the dedicated car dealerships that make their living from selling their products.
Nintendo are doing this now to all us indies and what makes it worse is that people are being careful on their spending making it tough times for a lot of us at the moment and we need all the help we can get and Nintendo have just turned their backs on us!
for the last 3 - 4 weeks my local Game store has had 10 - 20 in on each delivery and 1 week had 3 deliveries !!! it's disgusting when their isnt even enough for us to get 1 or 2 a week.
I wont be surprised at Game announcing record profits for this year whilst many others go out of business.
Thanks for nothing Nintendo !
Release the solus software
It's pretty obvious the it is the manufacturing of the balance board that is causing all of the problems for Nintendo. Now I know it is a strange thing to suggest seeing as the game is pretty useless without the kit but I know of at least 4 third party accessory manufacturers who have their own Balance Board offerings ready to go into production with seemingly only standard lead times. At the minute though, until there are some 2 player games that suit the board there is little point in them doing so.
However, if Nintendo were to release the software as a solus item, these guys can spring into action with what they do best and fill the hole that Nintendo are allowing to become deeper every day.
Yes Nintendo will lose some revenue on the board sales although in all honesty I bet they aren't making anywhere near as much margin as they would selling the game as a standalone. This way they could also quickly accelerate the installed base.
Nintendo seem to give out licenses left right and centre for accessory manufacture these days so why not continue the trend and hopefully satisfy the massive demand at the same time.
Re: Release the solus software
I think that would be the wrong way to go about it all and would just cause confusion amongst customers as to what they have to buy.
Also lets not forget Nintendo want to recoup their development costs and make a profit out of it also other boards might not work the same way etc.... meaning Nintendo could damage the brand.
I think part of the problem at the moment is that plastic costs worldwide are high at the moment due to the cost of oil and demand for production.
At the end of the day my biggest problem is how Nintendo are sharing out the stock that they do have - I enjoy there being a demand as it helps in the current market we are in and means we arnt flooded with stock that doesnt sell quickly meaning a quick turnover for all of us if it was to be shared out fairly that is.
