Microsoft retracts fees for Microsoft’s PC multiplayer service, developers also to benefit
At GAMEFEST 08, Seattle, Microsoft revealed online features of Games for Windows Live will now be offered free to gamers.
Previously Games For Windows Live users had to pay a premium to use the facility, but as part of a major revamp of the system the firm has waived subscription fees.
Chris Satchell, CTO of Microsoft’s Entertainment devices division, said the move was a “way to improve Windows gaming”.
Developers will also be able to use the system for free – for more on that check out our sister site Develop.
