Duke Nukem returns

New release featuring much-missed hero confirmed for DS and PSP

Koch-owned publisher Deep Silver has signed an agreement with Apogee Software to co-publish “one of the greatest franchises in the history of gaming.”

The anticipated Duke Nukem Trilogy will be released on DS and PSP in sequential episodes, starting with Critical Mass, followed by Chain Reaction and Proving Grounds.

Terry Nagy, co-founder and COO of Apogee said: “We were seeking a strong global publishing partner to herald the eagerly-anticipated return of Duke Nukem. We have indeed found that partner in Deep Silver.”

Koch CEO Dr Klemens Kundratitz enthused about the series, beginning next summer: “Since we launched the Deep Silver label, we’ve aggressively pursued the best properties to bring to market. Apogee has produced some of the greatest franchises in the history of gaming, none of them more popular than Duke Nukem.”

haha, this is going to be like Duke Nukem Forever, Never going to be released. DNF has been around 95% completed over three times now and they scraped the whole thing and started again, the only reason the trailer was released is because a few people put it together in their own time for the xmas party.

Willypiggy: I think there's more to it than that - we have seen more content released in the past year than we did between 2001 - 2006 (where we saw no content at all).

Broussard has stated there will be a slow build up of promotion before release and he has said there will be a new trailer "coming". I think we'll see an increase in screenshot and trailer content culminating in the release of DNF before Q3 next year.

Also, with regards to this news, I am not that impressed with this partnership. Scott Miller stated he was unhappy with some of the quality of the Duke3D expansion packs (Duke Zone 2 springs to mind) and that they would be more careful with DNF.

AFAIK this partnership is with a relatively unknown producer and the reformed Apogee is not under the control of Miller and Broussard. Judging by the new Apogee website at www.apogeesoftware.com and the stupid "trailer" they released for this trilogy, perfectionism isn't their game.

That "trailer" would be ok at 30 seconds long. It looks like it was done by a schoolkid who has discovered powerpoint.
