UK CHART: Wii Fit leaps back to No.1

Stock not a problem as Nintendo title takes the High Street by storm

Nintendo’s Wii Fit has returned to the top of the UK’s All Formats games chart following a 32 per cent jump in sales.

The title jumps back up the official ChartTrack/ELSPA Top 40, overtaking last week’s No.1, LucasArt’s LEGO Indiana Jones.

THQ’s movie tie-in Wall-E climbs 12 per cent over last week but has to settle for No.2 for a second successive week.

Mario Kart Wii climbs 23 per cent to claim No.3 and Activision-Blizzard climbs seven places to No.4 for the first full sales week of DS Guitar Hero: On Tour.

Lego Indiana Jones drops all the way from No.1 to No.5, suffering a 15 per cent dip in unit sales.

Suppliers have and always will take care of the big chains over the indies. As my collegue 'starwars' says, the situation is a joke and what's equally frustrating is that we, the indies, are 'expected' to play fair when it comes to street dates and imports.

Continued actions like this from the suppliers does not breed loyalty.

well lets face it...Koch are crap on everything, they hardly get any stock, they hardly give any stock. I've got another supplier who has been able to supply Wii Fit, paying slightly more but charging em out for more so its all good. Managed to get 100 so far and got another 50 coming next week.

Koch Media supply us with more stock than we get from Centresoft or Gem put together - mind you in Koch's ranking system we are in the top 50 accounts.
Basically you have to continually earn your ranking to get to the top - we did and now it's paying off for us in wii fit's and wii's etc.....
The sad thing if anything is that nintendo themselves are giving more stock to the multiples than to us Indies.

lol any Wii Fits i can get...which is not many I just try and sell as high as possible. The only trouble is my site doesn't get high traffic volumes so i have to resort to selling on play and stupid people keep competing to get the best price and it's gone down about £25 in the last 2 weeks! WHY DONT PEOPLE KEEP THEIR PRICE UP!!! - you know make more profit...

Message to The One:- Please, let Kosh know where you are getting the stock and share the info with the rest of us. Would like to comment on the subject of Kosh's buy more get more policy:- Nice theory:- however how do you get more when you are on an allocation basis and all the stock that you want to purchase is on an allocation basis.... see what I mean that just does not work. I'm at least encouraged to learn that I am not the only Victim of this appalling stock allocation system. If this stock situation continues to be handled in such an unprofessional and unfair trading regime there will be many more casualties of this short sitedness and we will all lose out as you will see the demise of the independent sector in the retail marketplace. My heart sinks every time there's a new fabulous product that I know is going to be a stressfull bunch of phone calls and various emails to try and secure a little bit of that stock. I would add that GemTHkRTk has been helpfull and would urge indies to take your orders to them, but please leave a bit for the rest of us. Best Regards to you all. A very old timer, Lass from Largs!

Koch's stock allocation system is stupid - as 13 said you cannot increase your allocation as they don't anything worth buying.

Another joke are the promos i.e win a trip to Vegas - Next time I'll set up a new account, starting from zero the % growth will be phenomenal.

The real problem isn't the rubbish allocation system but that they have nothing to allocate. We're quite high in Koch's ranking system and I still think Wii Fit must be a figment of my imagination.

Why won't the bosses of Koch contact Nintendo and ask for some of the stock Zavvi are getting!

You could almost believe that the games industry would like to see an end to the independent retail sector, just like they did with music.

As with everyone above, we find the Koch "allocation" system to be pathetic.

It is hard enough to compete with the likes of Supermarkets and Woolworths who sell below RRP and who, more often than not, break the street dates but we also have to buy a palette load of Nintendo stock (that no one buys) just to get ONE Wii.
I congratulate Gamez4Life for managing to get even one, I have never seen a Wii Fit beyond adverts and Pictures.

No thanks Koch, I think we will stick with getting our Nintendo stock from Gem because we can actually get the stuff from them, except Wii Fit of course which I am starting to believe is like the Sasquatch.

There are some sellers out there it just depends what you can sell the Wii Fit for as they are selling at MOQ of 10 at 69.99 excluding VAT. This is just one German supplier we know.
If anyone wants it I am quite happy to pass on details. Dont post here as keep losing these threads but stick request in forum as always looking in there.
