Future online revenue up 39 per cent

Firm behind official Xbox and PlayStation Magazines reports rise in revenue

Media firm Future disclosed a whopping 39 per cent increase in online advertising revenue in its interim financial statement. In the same period the firm launched Girl Gamer, and Qore, a Sony US “digital edition” for the PlayStation 3 network in North America.

For the nine months ending June 30th 2008, Future’s revenue was up by 1 per cent, 71 per cent of which was brought in from its UK business and the rest by Future US. Advertising revenue rose by 4 per cent, but the rise in online advertising saw the biggest jump, which, Future said, now accounts for 19 per cent of all advertising revenue.

“We have continued to make good progress during the third quarter of our financial year – particularly in digital development,” commented Future chief executive Stevie Spring. “While the market remains tough, Future is proving resilient and we remain firmly on track for a satisfactory outturn for the full year.”
